Chantal Akerman, the Belgian filmmaker, lives in New York. Filmed images of the City are accompanied by the texts of Chantal Akerman's loving but manipulative mother back home in Brussels. The City comes more and more to the front while the words of the mother, read by Akerman herself, gradually fade away.

Good comic timing, put together by someone who's (or has hired the right people who) spent enough time on the zombie genre, and it comes up in a couple of decent, well-placed scenes - I'll add a star for the Shaun of the Dead add-in - but overall, the movie's basically fairly loosely assembled, not a very coherent storyline (not that one's really needed) and some interesting new concepts, both origin and fighting. The music is absolutely brilliant and visual gags reasonably decent - and it doesn't become too self-conscious or too OTT.

As a political documentary, this is spot-on. See it.As a documentary, it is a little scattered and probably could have dwelled on some points for longer. It might have given a more emotional involvement if it did sit on things for longer. Still, not too much to complain about.

(it) wrote: Calling this one an action-comedy was a bit of a stretch as their is surprisingly little action (tho you do get to see Charles Martin Smith set Burt Reynolds on fire!) and very little comedy (much of which revolves around Raquel being the only female cop around). Great cast, tho most are wasted in throwaway roles.

Powell charms the pants off a Baroness and they fall in love. Not the best of Powell's films, but he so fucking charming and enjoyable to watch on screen it a must see if you are a Powell fan(Keith). The dope smoking is also enjoyable and Powell and Francis have a great repoir.
