Alastair W (ca) wrote: Once again, another great story and atmosphere from Wes. Favourite scenes are at Summers End house and the Camp. Edward Nortons character deserves his own spinoff as I can't get enough of him and Camp Ivanhoe. Great acting all round but especially from Bill Murray, Ed Norton, the two leads and the boy scouts. Would have liked a bit more of a fuller soundtrack but it does have an absolute gem from Francoise Hardy that once again gets me onto a Wes Anderson spotify playlist and a brilliant choir song, "Cuckoo". It only lacks somewhat, when compared to The Grand Budapest Hotel, in the fairytale story that its title Moonrise Kingdom, would suggest.

Patrick B (kr) wrote: This movie is very (and I mean VERY) hard to review. I can't decide whether I think it's a bad movie with some good parts or a good movie with some bad parts. Most of the dialogue between the kids is horrible and their own subplot is not very good. But the movie does a complete 180 when it shows the story and interactions with the main character and the adults. Almost all of the scenes with the young boy and the adults are well written and acted. They create a good narrative and fell very real. So whether this movie is good or bad just falls to the viewers preference. I am stuck in the middle but I still think this movie is a decent watch and would prefer it to most people if they're in the mood for a good coming-of-age movie. 5/10

Mark B (it) wrote: the way this is filmed is pretty mind-blowing. that paired with the incredible sound gives the viewer an experience beyond being there. it feels as though we understand how much the musicians themselves loved their own music.

Diana D (us) wrote: Flaming Star is not your typical Elvis musical. In fact, there's only two songs in the whole movie. And that's certainly not a bad thing! Elvis plays a dramatic role in the film, something that hadn't been done in two years. I'm not going to spoil it, but the plot is certainly an intriguing one, and I didn't feel bored at all during this film like I did during Speedway, Harum Scarum, and other lame musicals. When people say Elvis films are horrible, chances are they haven't even heard of this film. Also, don't be fooled by publicity shots: Barbara Eden doesn't play a very big role in this film. Anyways, all Elvis fans should see this film. It's my second favorite film of his, a close second to King Creole, another great Elvis movie.
