The mixed media featured include puppetry, CGI, hand-drawn animation, illustration, acrylics, claymation, and even 'animated' tattoos, just to name a few. (ru) wrote: Amazing performance from Tom Hanks who was incredibly subdued but mesmerizing too. The assured direction from Eastwood gives us a film based on the blowback of a very famous story.
(jp) wrote: The story line of this movie was nice and simple. Unfortunately for me the delivery was slow. That is not to say that this movie was bad, just slow.
(gb) wrote: Definitely a nice old story like we would like to have lived. Plenty of nice characters. A natural connection. The whole is quite sensible and on an hopeful note. Talking note, the music is plain great and the great japanese song of the time that was so popular the world over (in many languages) comes up. No super powers!

It wasn't though, it is based on a YA novel.Lead Zoe Deutch is fantastic working against the wooden, forced acting of the rest of the cast. She manages to find agency without any help.
(it) wrote: This was surprisingly good! I think it was because it was a nice trip down memory lane! Oh the 90s! But it was also cool to see the behind the scenes stuff in particular, Celine as a human being. She's actually quite funny!I hate these half ass reviews but I'm so tired!

Director Duncan Jones, who also made Moon, one of my favorite movies, crafts a great mystery/action movie that is filled with excellent action and has enough tension to keep you intrigued. Source Code is definitely worth your time.

(br) wrote: On paper, a film in which Bryan Cranston plays a scientist battling a slimy creature of his own creation should be schlocky gold... and yet it isn't. At all. The movie is crippled beyond recovery by its $1.98 budget that asks us to believe that the (barely) redressed conference rooms, service hallways, industrial warehouses, and accounting offices on display are actually supposed to comprise some kind of ultra-cool, futuristic research facility. Couple the nonexistent production design with horrendous cinematography (the sets seem to have been lit either by harsh fluorescent floodlights or no lights at all, often within the same scene) and you've got a movie that looks just plain awful. That said, Cranston is legitimately good, as is - shockingly - Marc Singer as the constantly irritated, wise-cracking fixer called in to deal with the monster situation. All told, however, this is not "so bad, it's good," it's "so bad, it's bad."

(it) wrote: Really slow plot, notable cast members don't do anything outstanding, and the scares are rather meager. There is some nice gore and special effects, and it can get grotesque at times. It also gets confusing, plus a rather dumb ending.
