(mx) wrote: Average but entertaining enough should you not wish to think and know the plot from the start. Nothing to write home about. This does not break any new grounds or will be nominated for any awards but hey sometimes you just want to see some action and that's all.
(gb) wrote: Low budget film with low budget plot with low budget acting. British answer to Saw it claims.....hardly.

(ag) wrote: One of those multiple-story films, extremely well done, interweaving history teacher's experience in the present with stories from the past, all to answer his students' questions about what's the use of history. Jeremy Irons is brilliant, and the book (by Graham Swift) is more than worth reading as well.

(nl) wrote: Not bad for Hitchcock's second effort! Some easy to spot models/green-screen, but you have to give it the benefit of the doubt, seeing as it's 1940! Decent plot, considering this was filmed during WWII and not afterwards with hindsight to help, which makes the intrigue and mystery interesting. The windmill scene was quite fun and the plane crash was made to look realistic enough. Nice to see a war story from a reporter's POV, rather than a soldier.
(au) wrote: "The names Ryan. Jack Ryan!" In Patriot Games, Harrison Ford plays former CIA agent Jack Ryan, taking over from Alec Baldwin, who had played author Tom Clancy's brainy protagonist in Hunt for Red October. This time around, Ryan foils an attempted assassination, thereby incurring the wrath of a maniacal Irish radical (Sean Bean). After seemingly neutralizing the villains, and deciding to celebrate the occasion with his wife (Anne Archer) and daughter (Thora Birch), everything appears to be back to normal; then all hell breaks loose. Harrison Ford in this movie was freaking fantastic and Sean Bean played a great villain in this movie just like Hans Gruber in Die Hard.
(gb) wrote: I think this is an under rated and under appreciated movie. The special effects are just enough to be funny and illustrate the ridiculousness of the situation. Bruce Willis is excellent in a rare comedy role. The scene with Sidney Pollack is priceless and "she'll be furious" (in the morgue) and "it's a miracle" are lines often quoted by our family. Funny and well written. The ending is well done.
(kr) wrote: Enjoyable but light musical that works thanks to its exceptional cast & musical numbers but lack of plot or any real conflict keeps it from barely becoming a movie. Worth streaming on Netflix.
