Adam M (it) wrote: Get this guy a damn cup of coffee already! What a rough day that all could have been avoided had he just had a nice cup of Joe. Tom Schilling shines bright in this low key film.
Ian P (de) wrote: The worst film I've ever seen. I don't understand how people find it funny, it has no humour in it at all. Avoid at all costs.
Hollie T (br) wrote: If you want to watch a biopic about Ed Gein, watch Deranged instead.
Nick E (es) wrote: The film would just be a ordinary action-comedy, but thanks to Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy's chemistry, it works.
James M (gb) wrote: All Ed Wood's films are terrible, but while Plan 9 From Outer Space is in the "So Bad It's Good" category, this is just plain bad.
Tom K (it) wrote: Sub-quality fare. ... But wait! Is that Bette Davis putting on the performance of her life? And is that a jaw-socking feminist message bubbling to the surface as though it had been there all along?
Alice S (nl) wrote: You may be turned off by the film's long and artless title, but after taking in this exquisitely restrained romance between man and woman, man and nature, the known and the unknown, you'd be hard pressed to find a title as earnest and true as the film itself.
Mark S (au) wrote: Boring and cheesy, not worthy of either Robert Towne himself or his decent cast.
Brett H (br) wrote: Laughably tame in comparison to Olympus Has Fallen, being dumber, cheesier, and far less entertaining, though it still provides enough exciting action and decent performances to make it passable. Roland Emmerich, the master of destruction, directed this and it seems like he took a few notes from Michael Bay by awkwardly inserting unwarranted comedy into the proceedings that makes the film feel obnoxious as opposed to funny. The film stars Channing Tatum as a former soldier who has to take up arms and defend the president, played by Jamie Foxx, when the White House is under attack by terrorists and he is the only one who can save the day. These two have great chemistry together and the most enjoyable aspect of the film is when we are following them. The supporting cast is stellar with great work from Richard Jenkins, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and especially James Woods, who commanded the screen with his villainous role; far better than the actual baddie of the film, played by Jason Clarke. The underlying problem this film has is that it is a PG-13, sanitized action film that wants to be like Olympus Has Fallen and/or Die Hard, but doesn't have the stakes to back it up. Never do you fear for the hero's survival because he is a super-man who always gets out of every shoot-out unscathed and this film just seriously lacks grit. It's a ridiculous, disposable, action film that passes the time on a slow day, but it's appeal-to-all-ages approach doesn't work for me as I want my action films to have balls and this film hasn't hit puberty yet.
