Braxton H (fr) wrote: Seriously fun movie. Completely surprised to see the poor ratings, I can only put that up to people never having a geek for a friend. It absolutly captures the characters, all stereotypes that actually do exist in every group of geeky friends. The part that impressed me the most was how rarely they went for the easy joke. And when they DO, the characters in the movie usually don't think it's funny. This is a solid, goofy as hell, and true to life visualization of how a larp group would actually handle the situations in this film. There are obvious flaws in dialogue and the pacing could use some help but it more than makes up for that with it's personality.

Daryl D (au) wrote: Typical coming out plot, acting is decent, and the scenes at the beach are overwhelming but still enjoyable. The guys are cute and the nude scene was hot! It is a b-movie after all!

Nicki M (kr) wrote: This is more a movie aimed at older women (no comments that I am not that far off. haha), but I didn't mind it. It follows Arvilla, (Jessica Lange), who has recently lost her husband. I thought it dealt very well with her grief and it felt very real and sad. She ends up in a situation where she discovers her husband did not update his will and his old one specifies that his daughter, Francine, from a previous marriage, gets the house. Christine Baranski is horrible as Francine. I mean that in a good way, it is a horrible character - Christine does a great job with it! One of the things that made me laugh was the awful shriek ringtone Arvilla had set on her mobile for when she calls. Francine decides that Arvilla can keep the house, as long as she returns the ashes to her to be buried with his first wife. Arvilla is in turmoil as she knows this is not what her late husband wanted. She and her two girlfriends take a road trip to revisit some old memories and drop the ashes off to the Francine (or does she....).It is fairly slight on plot once the roadtrip stuff starts, but it is a nice female buddy movie. I think it has been compared to Thelma and Louise a few times, and I could certainly see that. I dare say T & L is the better of the two, but this is nicely acted and rings true.

Bill T (jp) wrote: Fun little 70's "what if?" movies that ties in two unrelated things and tries to connect them, and then tries to invent conspiracy theories. It's like Inglorious Basterds 1970s style. There's a plot out to kill Patton (played rather George-Kennedishly by George Kennedy) and it's up to John Cassevetes and Sophia Loren to stop it! Oh yes, there's a gold theft in there somewhere as well, as well as the story of the assassin too. Somewhat hard to follow, but enjoyable nevertheless. Max Von Sydow is so smarmy and greasy here, he steals the show. OH RIGHT, there's also the amazing Robert Vaughn, playing WAY over type, playing a general with a secret gay boyfriend. So good!

Matt L (nl) wrote: Man, how times have changed. This was the first big break-out role for Amitabh Bachchan, so I was keen to see it. It's a pretty good actioner, and Bachchan is good in it, though I think it'll take him a couple more movies before he really finds his feet. What fascinated me in watching this was the musical numbers, particularly the first one with Jaya Badhuri. She's the only one dancing! These days you get a musical number in a Bollywood picture and everybody, even the legless newspaper vendor breaks in to spontaneous, precisely choreographed dance. In this, usually it's just the lead of that song dancing, frequently with onlookers just hanging out and watching them. Oddly enough while this is arguably more realistic, it took me out of the action somewhat. Still, great film, definitely one to be seen by Bollywood completists as it marks such a transition between the older films and what we see today.

Jess L (us) wrote: An easy going film that doesn't aim high with what it presents to the audience. A feel good comedy staring Judy Holliday, who is exceptional in this role, and Jack Lemmon, his first screen role, who is equally as hilarious as Holliday. A great premise, perfectly executed, a perfect Sunday afternoon movie.

Justin R (br) wrote: Good fight scenes and interesting actors. Lesser Kurosawa to be sure, but I liked it a lot more than I did the first time I saw it years ago. I wonder if the disclaimer saying that 17 minutes of footage had been cut out by the Japanese government was not on the version I saw before, because the choppiness of the narrative seemed much more acceptable to me this time, with that disclaimer.
