The entire time I was watching this I felt like it could have been from the 80s, right along the lines of Stand By Me and The Goonies. Obviously, this doesn't come close to touching those classics, but I did enjoy it. It's that typical story of a group of kids finding themselves in trouble, but with a more vulgar twist to it. I enjoyed watching these foul-mouthed kids interact, and at times it reminded me of my friends at that age. It feels fairly realistic, but the acting is pretty bad at times. Unfortunately that really hurt the film for me, especially when the story is all about these child actors. The payoff also feels a bit lackluster, especially when compared to those other films I've mentioned. That being said, I did like this movie. It's got some good things going on and I'd definitely revisit it.
Mandy C (nl) wrote: OMG! Totally disasterous movie. Worst action movie with 2 stone-face and not knowing to act lead actor and actress. This movie basically is an insulting mock of the "Indiana Jones". One Jay Chou is bad enough and the director have to add Lin ChiLing to makes it double bad. The plots were senseless and the overly dramatic. The CG is one badly and overly used. Not to mention the editing was bad and choppy. I seriously couldn't find anything good to say about this movie. Everything in the movie was just too forceful and that includes the scripts.

You hate him, but you feel for him because you understand his process and state of mental health. Liev Schreiber stole the movie though. He didn't have one line in English and conveyed more character than anybody else in the film. He was very calm and solemn throughout, like Boris Spassky was, but you understood everything he was thinking and feeling. I don't understand anything about Chess. I don't know what the difference is between a check and a mate, but, this film made the game of chess interesting, even though I had no clue what was going on. Very good movie. Highly recommended.
