Ravi A (it) wrote: A seemingly realistic look at the matchmaking process of Georgian Jews in Israel. A fairly linear film but well acted. Highlights are supposedly the sex scene and the ending. Hot young brides to be and fat moms, men who don't respect women, dudes overly dependent on their parents and women who are passive aggressive are some of the things that are common in many cultures I guess.

Daniel K (jp) wrote: 2.5: A decent genre piece from the 80's, but nothing special. This is the kind of film that doesn't often get made anymore. Worth watching, but perhaps not more than once.

Zane T (ag) wrote: For the most part, Looker is only famous for one thing: Susan Dey nude. But the plot is weak. Apparently, James Coburn plays an evil tycoon, is there any other, who wants to make commercials that will hypnotize viewers into buying products. So, do they kill the models so they don't have to pay them royalty fees? I don't know and neither does Michael Crichton. While the special effects can be forgiven because they are early 1980's lame, even though impressive at the time, the plot is silly.

Eric R (br) wrote: Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis are both great in this film, although Jerry Lewis really can be a bit much at times. The colors are great, and i really love the amount of experimentation Tashlin brought to this film, in terms of visual and sound gags. Its just one of those films that makes you smile.

Chris W (br) wrote: I still love this film after all these years despite the flaws it has. Fess Parker has been the only actor to pull off Davy Crockett.

Adam R (mx) wrote: George Harvey Bone (Laird Cregar) is a celebrated Victorian-era composer on the verge of breaking into the ranks of high society. Under the tutelage of Sir Henry Chapman (Alan Napier) and his adoring daughter Barbara (Faye Marlowe), Bone seemingly has everything a young artist could want. Unfortunately, he's also afflicted with a burden all meteoric creative types possess: a mental disorder, the composer's taking the form of blackouts which seemingly give way to violent urges.A further complication manifests in Netta (Linda Darnell), a conniving, cruel woman who is the subject of George's unrequited affections. Netta soon becomes the subject of Bone's brutal obsessions, provoked by exposure to loud, unpleasant noises. "Hangover Square" is a competent thriller, effectively evoking a foggy, claustrophobic London; one can almost see Jack the Ripper stalking the same streets Bone does when struck by his dark periods. The problem, unfortunately, rests on an approach to the story. Despite a fine performance by Cregar, very little of his horror makes it to the screen. Director John Brahm focuses on the effects of Bone's disorder more than what it's like for the sufferer, meaning murder and the mayhem it causes take center stage rather than the psychological turmoil the protagonist experiences. A better director could have hit pay dirt with such a story. In the same year, Alfred Hitchcock began his intense interest in psychoanalysis and its application to drama with "Spellbound." Though by no means a perfect picture, "Spellbound" set the stage for fruitful psychological thrillers, including "Vertigo" and "Psycho." Who knows what Hitchcock could have done with this intriguing source material ....

Sosa M (jp) wrote: This film makes telekinesis look boring, a feat which I once thought impossible. The three power wielding teenagers use their gifts to build Lego towers and play baseball for about 3/4 of the film. The last 1/4 of the film is wasted on a lackluster ending. Believe me when I say it hurts to watch this film. The special effects are sub par and the plot is pretty much non-existent. I wanted to like this film, I really did. I learned that even though a film has an awesome trailer, it can still suck.
