Niral G (ru) wrote: The movie started out funny, but it really lost its charm fairly quickly. There were a few decent jokes and scenes, but otherwise not a great movie. Pretty terrible acting as well. Plus, the plot is just about impossible as well. I always feel that a movie is more exciting when there is some sort of realism.

Alan Alda was great and Matthew Broderick was adequate. Not one I would tell people they REALLY had to see. Watch it if you're bored.
Billy W (au) wrote: A complete waste of time. I actually fast forwarded through most of it. I kept thinking it was going to get better, but it didn't
Kurt F (ru) wrote: 12/22/13 I only watched 20 minutes of this, and I knew that the film was going to suck. I know I've watched this before (probably within the last year) and I remembered almost NOTHING about it. I just had this feeling that I remembered hating it. I think I;m probably being too generous giving it 1.5 stars, but I barely remember anything about it, and it is based just on the first 20 (completely unfunny and boring) minutes.

Collin P (ru) wrote: Alien incorporates some of the best characters, an interesting creature design, intriguing mythology and an overall feeling of dread and suspense into one flowing story so well, that no movie since has come close to achieving what it accomplished.
Anthony K (us) wrote: How have I gone this long without seeing the defining musical in all of cinema? Probably for the same reason that my boss still hasn't seen "Avatar." When you miss the zeitgeist, keeping up to speed on pop culture is very much a self-starting activity. I didn't have the occasion, or the drive really, to get off my ass and find a digital copy. After 27 years, though, that's all behind me. Was it worth the wait? Kind of."West Side Story" is undoubtedly a work of artistic genius. Every set piece is painted in rich, emotive color. The choreography bulldozes through the supposed limits of the human body. The music is (mostly) one show-stopping tune after another, burrowing like a mass of earworms into your brain. It's fun, fun, fun with a capital "F" and its influence can still be felt years later. "La La Land" in particular owes this film a huge debt. Without its groundbreaking camerawork and kinetic choreography, we wouldn't have "Another Day in the Sun" or any of its freeway-stomping madness. It isn't all unmitigated fun though. I'm going to echo the words of my girlfriend in saying that the leads are the weakest part of this film, both in performance and how they're written in the screenplay. Tony and Maria are two wet blankets whose Romeo and Juliet love story has all the trappings of the classic story, but none of youthful lust that is supposed to make their coupling petulant but believable. Natalie Wood at least has a go at bringing a Latina fire to her role (she's Russian *cough cough*), but she and co-star Richard Beymor pale in comparison to the blazing spotlights of Anita (Rita Morenco) and Bernardo (George Chakiris). They are the film's real draw. Forget the setting, the bland retread of a story, or the sliver of logic that escapes everyone involved. "West Side Story" is the Morenco and Chakiris show.If you sit down expecting a gorgeously mounted song and dance showcase and let trivial things like story and character development slide, there's hardly a more thrilling ride than "West Side Story." This is one case of a boatload of Oscars (11 in total) well deserved. 7.1/10
Laura B (us) wrote: This movie is dumb, but (and this is a big but) its also hysterical. Just sit back and let the gooey musical fluff wash over you. A must for old movie/musical lovers
Quist E (de) wrote: Seven pounds is a dark and wonderful movie that makes you sympathize with the main character before even knowing his name. The main character, Ben Thomas, is in emotional pain that slowly reveals itself throughout the movie. Besides the long and unnecessary romantic scenes, the depressing and dramatic scenes keeps you lured in all the way to the end. The title Seven Pounds is actually a reference to a Shakespearean metaphor which means to make up for one's debt.
Jill R (ag) wrote: A great movie that isn't really a guilty pleasure I found this film to be terrific a great action film and Samuel l Jackson shines in this a totally great movie Grade B+
David B (nl) wrote: This is one of my Mum's favourite films. The music by John Barry is worthy of an oscar. The Ex Bond girl playing the same kind of sweet & innocent, butter wouldn't melt in my mouth beauty she did in 'Live & Let Die' and Superman playing a wet blanket. I recently read Richard Matheson's book 'Bid time return' on which the film's based and it made more sense of the ending. I think this is a beautiful film to watch and listen to, but if they'd been more true to the book the film would have been better. In the right hands this is perfect remake material.
