A comedy built on non sequiturs, the French-Austrian production No Rest for the Brave recalls Luis Buñuel at his most playful, or perhaps more accurately, the absurd New Zealand “exquisite corpse” film The Price of Milk. Brave opens on a bar in a sleepy farming village where two men, Igor and Basile, are having a conversation about their dreams. Concerned about his friend’s addled state, Igor visits him the next day but can’t find him; it turns out Basile has committed a massacre in the town square, and promptly shoots Igor dead. Ray Liotta still has some skills in him I'll give him that. Street Kings 2: Motor City moves the action to Michigan and explores the world of dirty cops on the violent streets of Detroit. Marty Kingston (Liotta) is an undercover narcotics detective who is shot and barely survives a drug bust gone wrong to save the life of his partner. When his partner is killed by a masked gunman four years later, Marty must team up with the hotheaded homicide detective Dan Sullivan (Hatosy) to investigate a string of brutal cop murders and hunt down the cop killer. The investigation that ensues is shrouded in deception and loaded with plot twists that question the line between the rules of law and justice.

Lindsay Crouse is a celebrity psychiatrist who is drawn into the world of con man Joe Mantegna when one of her patients is threatened by him due to a gambling debt. She is drawn in and becomes his confederate in a series of cons ... or does she? There's multiple levels of deception happening in this film, but the beauty of it is that despite it being a skilled exercise in misdirection, the cons are not the real point of the film. The film is really about what Crouse learns about herself during the course of the film, and even that isn't exactly what it appears to be.

Brutally captivating and stark, "Blood Simple" is not an easy film to endure by any means, though viewers who take it on will surely be grateful that they did.

Acting as a driving force, Mandela personally inspires the underdog team as they strive to win the 1995 Rugby World Cup.Freeman's calm and measured portrayal as Mandela is a flawless characterisation. Instantly apparent, the time spent on the little things like facial gestures, body movement, speech patters and accent, he delivers an astoundingly good performance.The Increasingly versatile Damon has beefed up and sports a new messy bleach blonde do to fit the role. However, sadly he literally butchers the Afrikaans accent and can not convincingly hold a rugby ball. Not in the same league as his other work, Eastwood's remarkably low key and unassuming filming style leaves this unabashed Oscar contender lacking depth. Doing little justice to such a beautiful story, the not-so-worldly-played sport is simply too dominant over the film and should have taken more of a back seat.In saying that, there are some genuinely touching and authentic moments, mostly evident by the secondary actors. For instance, when Mandela's personal guards and ex-Apartheid Special Branch men relax with each other and play an impromptu game, and when the team heads out to remote communities and teaches soccer-fan children how to play the game.The Verdict: Invictus isn't terrible, it's just ordinary, and considering the credentials behind its making, it is a major disappointment.
