(au) wrote: You can tell that director Braff is trying to repeat the quirkiness and humor of his masterpiece Garden State, just with a much bigger budget (which makes for a damn fine looking film). And it actually works for most of the film, sadly not all of it. Still, overall his take on death, family and religion is funny, touching and raises some very good and refreshing points. The actors are great and Braff still know great songs to pick for the right moments. Most importantly, many of the scenes are very memorable.

(nl) wrote: Steve Coogan kills it... as usual. Hamlet 2 is absolutely one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long while. It loses points for a couple of try-too-hard musical numbers and some stale supporting players, but overall... Hamlet 2 is hilarious.
(br) wrote: When people told me how morbid this movie was i couldn't help but watch it. Its not that good, its bland and too lacking for good material for script, story and character. I don't have a problem with people being active in the purity community, those who wanna save their virginity for the special someone. This movie kinda told me another story about that topic. It kinda told me that no one is committed to a promise because of human and animal nature. Don't believe me? The main character was tempted to have sex with the guy who almost rapes her, he who also can't be committed to the purity promise because he confessed that he masturbates. This movie is just hard to watch because of this cryptic silence that hangs over the movie, just makes me think the script for this hour and a half film is just three pages long. She eventually becomes a stereo-type in fairy tales about women who have monster teeth for vaginas. But wait, there's more. It doesn't even show the monster teeth on her vagina, not once. Just a bunch of dicks being bitten off. I was sitting back bored just thinking and waiting for the moment when the girl wakes up and, it turns out to be a dream the whole time. But no, questions pile, mysteries go unsolved. If this movie was attended to be another monster movie it would be in the Shyamalan section. This movie is lacking, trying too hard or not trying at all. Don't bother watching this movie, cause theres nothing to see and i'm not just saying that cause. Spoiler Alert, they don't show the vagina monster teeth. This movie should just be called, Strong Vagina.

(au) wrote: Better than the poster, but still a bit of a confused mess.
(ca) wrote: Some of the talented people who were assembled for this movie were wasted here, especially actress Jennifer Connelly. A lot of the plot involves her character, yet we spend little time with her. The story itself seems uninspired, and in the end, it seemed more like a chore to watch it than a thrill.
(br) wrote: Just an action movie, but intense and pretty entertaining if you can overlook all the action movie cliches.
(ca) wrote: Funny things about this movie: The title means "Russian Russians" in Russian; Joaquin Phoenix's acting as a child was unbearable to watch; Whip Hubley's attempt at a Russian accent is annoying to have to sit through; and if you blink, you just might miss a few stereotypes.

Dommage.
(jp) wrote: This was my first ever viewing of Hamlet, and I never realized that Shakespeare performed well is this entertaining! I doubt if I would have discerned half the humor and double entendres just from reading the text.So many famous sayings come from this play -- I wish I had watched this a long time ago!
(fr) wrote: Marlon Brando used to say that making Bedtime Story was one of the best times he ever had on a movie set. It shows. He delivers a joyful, energetic and fantastically entertaining performance. Watching him play off of David Niven (who is also very good) is so much fun to watch.
(de) wrote: A unique premise based on the bizarre Thai practice of reenacting crimes with the criminals at the scene of the crime. Or is it? Cute/gorgeous main character, great directing. Impressive effects and score. Two movies in one, magnificent.
(fr) wrote: Comedies rarely stand the test of time - this one does... Hamlet against Hitler--No one else but Ernst Lubitsch could have made To Be or Not to Be. That it's superb and sublime and witty and ingeniously funny cannot be emphasized enough. The film has a great script, direction and cinematography... Lubitsch takes his revenge against Nazi Germany!!
