Reality C (au) wrote: The writing and direction were so awful that they made a typical high school play look professional by comparison. The topless women looked like middle aged housewives who either wore way too much makeup, or not nearly enough (depending on which one). The violence was extremely gory in concept, but the effects were mostly so bad that they would have been far better off just hinting at what was going to happen rather than trying to show it. Some scenes were a flat-out comedy, like where the guy gets his throat cut and there's literally a fountain of blood shooting up like a fire hydrant that got ran over by a truck. The penis cutting scene would have been the only moment of gore that would have left the film memorable, but since the victim was already dead, corpse mutilation was just another weak moment. Overall a waste of time for viewers of all ages.

Mona K (au) wrote: Although controversial psychological aspect of the relationship between the two doesnt go anywhere deeper than mainly obsession and desire, I found CLOSE MY EYES an intriguing, atmosheric movie. The main characters acting is superb and Alan Rickman especially amusing.A real standout performance. All in all a good British movie from 90 ties depicting late 80 era.Though might not be to everyones taste.
Russell G (mx) wrote: Decent enough play on a Jeckyl & Hyde thing. It's brought down but having the worlds most moronic, unsafe scientist in the lead. I mean really, he's far to much of an idiot to miss just how obvious everything is.

It isn't a pinnacle of cinematography or even a showcase of great acting but this movie is a perfect example of how movies can restore our faith in love, hope, and belief. Til this day i cant watch it without crying. A true work of art in its own sense.
