It's hard to think of many better or more quietly detailed depictions of a marriage in any movie, and the fact that Ushio comes across as so charismatic and interesting in spite of the fact that he's a recovering alcoholic who takes his wife for granted and often treats her poorly is a testament to the charitable humanism of director and cinematographer Zachary Heinzerling.

Adam S (ca) wrote: Implausible and downright ludicrous in times, but miles above other comtemporary disaster films such as "2012", Wolfgang Petersen's reimagining of "The Poseidon Adventure" is not without it's charms.Featuring a cast led by Kurt Russell, Josh Lucas, Mike Vogel and Richard Dreyfuss, amongst others, this films shows a handful of survivors struggling to escape a sinking cruise liner that was hit by a rogue wave. Many of the scenes play out like a puzzle game, with handy clues and tools lying around in convenient places, and the acting is as sub-par is in most disaster films, but at least there's some attempt to explain away some of the occurrences, making this film at least fun to watch in a mindless sort of way, rather than a frustration. There's better films out there, but this isn't THAT bad.

David M (fr) wrote: Action adventure movie that relies primarily on the appeal of it's two main stars teaming up; primarily on the thought of Stallone and Schwarzenegger side-by-side in the same movie.Stallone plays the part of the worlds foremost authority on escaping from federal prisons in order to test their security, but who himself becomes wrongly imprisoned in a prison based on his own designs. In order to escape, he must team up with fellow inmate Emil Rottmater - Schwarzenegger - with the two of them working together to find a way out. Watching this, I did wonder why they struck up a friendship so quickly, but all is revealed by the end!
Ian E (gb) wrote: "Shall We Dance" benefits from the charming performances from Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez, and Susan Sarandon who give this film the requisite energy like its impressive dance sequences. Despite its feel good appeal, the film plays things too safe and does not delve into any deeper or cultural context.
