(mx) wrote: Really interesting story told in this indie that seems to have a very low budget which you can tell rather easily, but it makes up for that with a great story and excellent casting. The film has echoes of "The Bicycle Thief" as two kids are forced to survive on their own after their single Mom runs into job trouble. The kids are outstanding and I highly recommend seeking this one out!
(ru) wrote: It's a pretty full on mockumentary. A self serious satire that doesn't take itself seriously. Instead it becomes self indulgent. It did portray the effects of pornography on modern youth, but I wouldn't call it front tier mockumentary .

(fr) wrote: I'd defiantly say this is a good movie, but I have a major problem with it: I don't really understand what it is that Michael does. I get he works for a law firm, he does some of their dirty work and stuff, but what is his actually job? It had me confused the whole time, and it may have also been my fault, I don't think the film explained it well enough. It does skip around, and although it has some good characters they all had me confused to a point. Again it's probably me, but it could have been shown better. The acting is really good, and so is the script, but showing the end at the beginning, and then working towards that same ending for the rest of the movie was different. It didn't mess with the plot too much, but didn't help it either. The story is good, has a good pace with interesting subject matter, and holds your attention. Having the important girl whose name I don't remember at the end get set up and caught was good and well done, and one of the high point if the film for sure. Overall a good movie, could have given more info on the characters though but was a good, different enjoyable watch.
(ru) wrote: Undoubtedly, everything has its pros and cons but as for me, Love Actually is a fantastic romantic comedy. This is a film that you should see if you feel a bit gloomy and need something to cheer you up. It contains about a dozen couples who are in love; that's an approximate figure because some of them fall out of love and others change their partners. This is a beautiful film which will make you smile and wipe your tears away in no time, I mean it))) This film includes some brilliant moments, such as the little boy who's in love and the single English guy who makes up his mind to find love in America. And he is absolutely sure that his British accent will drive girls mad)))To tell the truth, Love Actually it made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me smile. It's adorable when it needs to be and also creates some drama when it's important. I really liked Love Actually, there were hillarious characters and they weaved them all in together perfectly. I think the music is the true soul of this movie. Especially the song Too lost in you by Sugababes. Cheers for this music band!I would like to distinguish three story lines of the film which have won my heart. The first story line is the relationship between Jamie (Colin Firth) and Aurelia (Lucia Moniz). The play with the language barrier is quite clever. Firth is all sincerity and gentleness here. Moniz's exquisite charm is quite irresistible. Together, they make the most wonderful couple. The second one is relationship between Daniel (Liam Neeson) and Sam (Thomas Sangster). I suppose that it is of great value to watch growing mutual love they share with each other. The boy is so cute at his age, however he has very mutual inner world and soul!!!The third best story moment when was the press conference given (standing side by side) by the American President and the British Prime Minister. The moment when Hugh Grant (as the Prime Minister) finally tells the American president to his face that Britain will no longer grovel before American wishes but will have an independent view of its own - great!!!Nevertheless, I am really shocked at all the bad reviews I have read regarding this film. I suppose that this movie is cool. I guess, maybe you need to be in the right mood for it? To sum up, this is a movie about taking big chances, about making big gestures to show our love, and about the bigges feelings that might make us crazy and miserable but remind us that we are alive and why we are alive. In conclusion, any movie that manages to include a child dressed as a Nativity lobster, love-emergency lessons in both drums and Portuguese, and Hugh Grant dancing through the halls of 10 Downing Street to the Pointer Sisters is worth seeing at least twice.

(us) wrote: Often considered a peak of Eddie Murphy's career, Delirious finds the young comic delivering an hour of risque stand-up. There are a couple of tamer gags involving family life and childhood obsessions with ice cream trucks, but the vast majority of the humor is very blue. Modern audiences may be turned off by how Murphy addresses race and homosexuality, but it's difficult to take most of his clowning all that seriously. While the material doesn't match sets recorded by Richard Pryor or George Carlin at roughly the same time, Delirious still has a solid amount of funny content and entertaining showmanship. It's worth a viewing for anyone interested in the medium of stand-up comedy.

(br) wrote: I Was Born, But... is a wonderfully titled and crafted movie of pure simplicity by the master Ozu. As the title suggests, it's about someone facing the fact that they exist, but they aren't going to achieve anything. Two brothers move with their family so their father can be closer to his boss. The boys get into trouble with the local gang of boys, but soon manage to take control. Just as they are enjoying their triumph, they discover that their father plays the clown for his boss. They see this as a betrayal, and lose respect for their father. During the Ozu Retrospective I've seen Ozu handle dialog, sound, color, and everything else. Here was a nice chance to see him use only his sparse black and white visuals. The story was hilarious and moving. The boys really respect their father, and he encourages them to make something of themselves. Once they find out about his antics, they are not amused. We see the importance of honor and respect, even amongst such young children. The family dynamic is well structured, and even without sound I was completely entranced. Seeing the two boys struggle with the local gang was simply charming. It shows them upsetting the order of the group as the new outsiders. It shows that the need to be accepted never truly leaves us, and the barriers between adults and children aren't so thick and impenetrable. The climax is the young boys giving their father permission to suck up to their boss, and realising he does it for them. So gentle, so sweet, and a little bit sad. Pure Ozu.
