On the Double
American GI Ernie Williams, admittedly weak-kneed, has an uncanny resemblance to British Colonel MacKenzie. Williams, also a master of imitation and disguise, is asked to impersonate the Colonel, ostensibly to allow the Colonel to make a secret trip East. What Williams is not told is that the Colonel has recently been a target of assassins. After the Colonel's plane goes down, the plan changes and Williams maintains the disguise to confuse the Nazis about D-Day.

(ca) wrote: Another horrible TV movie, but there is so much drama that any woman will cry her eyes out and love it.
(kr) wrote: Sounds like a great acting performance. Will have to watch it.

(nl) wrote: As a movie, this one isn't very special. Average story, average acting... but somehow it just works for me on an emotional level. Can't really explain it.
(it) wrote: An underrated slasher film. It's long overdue for a proper DVD release. Currently, one can get a bootleg that includes footage from both versions, fully uncut. The transfer may be awful but at least you're seeing the full film. There's plenty of gore and the killings start immediately and never really let up. Plus, the story ain't half bad. The ending is fittingly tragic and the characters are mildly interesting. Definitely a forgotten 80's horror flick that is due for a re-evaluation. Slasher fans will not be disappointed.
