Saying that this film is silly because it involves a plant that kills you is a lot like saying Batman is silly because he dresses up like a bat. The film is actually pretty terrifying if you open your mind and realize how well the concept was executed.

Nina Hoss (the best thing in the film) plays Yella who is trying to make a new life for herself after being estranged from her husband Ben (Hinnerk Schonemann). She is trying to catch her train but Ben meets her and convinces her that he'll take her to the train station. What happens next I won't tell. This film definitely had potential to be better but it just didn't happen for me. Performances were alright all around but to be frank there really wasn't a lot of screen time except for Yella and really one other person. This was Nina Hoss's film all the way as she is basically in every frame of this movie. But I don't blame her for the film, it's the script which let her down. I would see another film with her in it (she has 27 acting credits on IMDB). There's really not a lot of emotional peaks or valleys with her character here so you really don't know her range. It is probably best to try another film to see if another director can bring something out of her. A solid 2 1/2 stars but not recommended.

How quickly hindi cinema has changed. Madhuri is excellent in this of course. Love it when she gets high with the local village kids. AND the MUSIC is fantastic! I wish I had a copy of it!

Carreh R (ag) wrote: This film was funny, had comical bits that were fresh and original, cute extra bits ensuring that something comical happened in the most unexpected moments. Though it is supposed to be a mock musical there isn't really much singing and even less dancing in it. There is a lot of dialogue. Anna Karenina, Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean-Claude Brialy are all young and oh so easy on the eyes. Seriously attractive and talented actors. The one thing I found a bit of a negative is that the movie was a bit repetitious after a while. It is about Angela (Anna Karenina) wanting a baby and her husband Emile (Jean-Claude Brialy) not wanting one just yet. So they fight off and on and Alfred (Jean-Claude Belmondo) who is in love with Angela could benefit from this rift but will he or will the couple make up - is it to be a tragedy or a comedy? Watch to find out :-) Hey you get to hear Charles Aznavour sing "Tue te laisse aller" which is a beautiful song.
Tom G (ag) wrote: "We Are Still Here" starts as a run-of-the-mill haunted house movie that plays homage to classics like The Changeling, yet transforms into a smartly directed, amazing piece of horror cinema by turning old tropes on their heads, and thanks to its talented cast and bloody finale it may even become a new horror cult classic.
Matthew M (ag) wrote: I enjoyable early seventies movie. Has Pam Grier and Margaret Markov as two criminals who are tied up with each other and have to decide on which way to go. The beginning of the film features a very long shower sequence in a Women rehabilitation center. The movies has some violent shoot outs and although Pam Grier is starring there are the two subplots that are connected with each girl. They show much of them as well but mostly for either violence or sexual stuff. Sid Haig has also been in two other Pam Grier movies that I have watched and has always played a different character. It is interesting at how this films of the early seventies have a certain enjoyable style that I like. Overall, an enjoyable movie because of how the storyline moves so fast and the film does lost its pacing.
