Juliana C (fr) wrote: My favorite movie. A very realistic and sensitive story that captivates you by its honesty view about life. Masanobu Ando and Ken Kaneko are amazing as the two friends Shinji and Masaru, and so are the supporting actors in their roles. Joe Hisaishi's soundtrack is like the movie in notes, it just fits so well! Takeshi Kitano is brilliant!

Brian S (jp) wrote: what a pleasant hidden gem of a 60s comedy. goofy, over-the-top, semi-satirical, and ripe with a motley assortment of talent. very visually captivating, as well, with amusing effects, stunning Edith Head dresses, and classic Gene Kelly choreography. not the strongest or most coherent story, but it's definitely a lot of fun.
