Dustin G (nl) wrote: A well made, well acted pseudo western that takes place many years after the old west had died off and made way for a more modern way of life. Kirk Douglas is typically awesome in a role that yet again shows the world his great acting versatility. Walter Matthau is great as well, in a role unlike any I've seen him in, but still one that enables his character to be the funniest one in the movie while getting down to serious business. It's not a slow paced movie, but to be honest it's not overly exciting either. It didn't really grab me the way it's grabbed most other people who've seen it and consider it Douglas' best film, including his son Michael and Steven Spielberg himself, who counts it as one of his favourite movies. It's got a great ending that is tough and doesn't cheapen the story by being concerned with the majority audience reaction or feel the need to wrap everything up in a pretty bow. Those are the best kinds of endings if you ask me. Lonely are the Brave is a very good movie with a terrible title that is well made and acted, but isn't something I personally will be inclined to visit again and again. But as a one time watch, you won't be disappointed.

It's a dramatic story that was turned into a pretty decent, but slow movie -- It is quite peculiar and there is more than just one unexpected twist that will lead to a powerful and meaningful finale. Great cast, Ben Kingsley did kind of an awesome job. So the answer is yes, it's worth the watch.
