Sarah H (de) wrote: How do people making a movie get movie shit wrong in a movie? Whatever, the acting was HORRIBLE, but the special effects weren't that bad. It was marginal at best. SO if you can't find anything else to watch and wanna see some people die, it will due.

Stuart M (nl) wrote: Wow. What a bad film. The ineptly realized flying monsters that formed such a major part of the film's promotion turn out to be entirely imaginary (aside from only appearing briefly on three occasions) and all that's left is an entirely typical hard case detective film. What the hell?

Adam R (ru) wrote: A Guy Thing is basically a standard romantic comedy, although it's also kind of sleazy. As a teen I used to really like these kind of movies with Jason Lee, but I probably wouldn't watch it again now. (First viewing - Teen years)

Mike M (de) wrote: Dramatises, variably but always intriguingly, very topical (for 2000) American fears... If the overall impression is a film never entirely sure of itself - overly reliant on a hyped-up score, and with an ending that's perhaps too good to be true - "Deterrence" nonetheless raises intelligent doubts about America's position on the world stage, and it's one of those rare low-budget, one-set, ensemble-driven debuts likely to be of some historical interest in years to come.

Domenico L (es) wrote: File this gem in the "careful what you wish for" category. Angels decide to find out just what mere mortals are made of by bestowing one insignificant, earthbound chap with the power to work miracles.Simple, straightforward H.G. Wells tale is well cast and features some still impressive special effects. The man of the title, Fotheringay, is a bit of a schlep - not able to get the girl of his dreams and toiling away in obscurity for the local department store. So, it only makes sense that, once he's given the power to do whatever he wants, he mostly dithers and is at the mercy of powerful business interests and pie-in-the-sky dreamers, who all have an idea of what he should do with his new found abilities. At once a story about the economic elite versus the common man and also a tale that touches on our deepest fears of what we are really capable of if given the opportunity, TMWCWM is fast paced, funny with a suitably crazy climax.

Lewis E (us) wrote: Although it is orchestrated on a coincidence-filled plot and fails to attribute enough time to Heath Ledger or Peter Boyle's characters, it holds attention through its intimate romance between the two leads and a few notable hard hitting scenes.
