(jp) wrote: It was dumb and ridiculous and extremely fun.
(br) wrote: Strange story, kind of dull and boring. The cinematography is bad with slow sweeping shots that are unnecessary, also the piano music score is overly sentimental as is the acting. Not much interest or of substance to be found in this film, a disappointment.
(br) wrote: In "Happy, Happy," Elisabeth(Maibritt Saerens), a lawyer, and Sigve(Henrik Rafaelsen) move with their adopted son Noa(Ram Shihab Ebedy) to a small town for a fresh start after Elisabeth's marital indiscretion. Aside from their volunteering for the local choir, they are warmly welcomed by neighbors Kaja(Agnes Kittelsen) and Eirik(Joachim Rafaelsen) who invite them over for game night. Then, Elisabeth and Sigve reciprocate in a night that soon turns confessional before Kaja gives Sigve a blow job. You know you're in deep trouble as a non-musical film if the best part is the music, especially in the case of "Happy, "Happy" where the entertaining interludes performed by a quartet prove to be about the only reasons to watch this very murky film. Otherwise, it takes forever for the slim plot to kick in, as the movie without a true point of view is unsure of whether or not it is a comedy. To be honest, it is possible something got lost in translation or I didn't understand some Scandinavian cultural attitudes. That still can't explain the weird interaction between the boys which goes far beyond bullying.
(fr) wrote: Good film... intense... lovely to see a movie with older and more experienced talented actors (i.e. Christopher Plummer).
(jp) wrote: It amazes me how absurdly unrealistic this movie is. I mean I usually don't mind a little artificiality in my movies but this is just ridiculous. Did these kids never consider going to community college, or maybe online college? It just bothered me that they didn't get in anywhere (and one character even had the audacity to ONLY apply to Yale, yeah really thats a great plan). Its little things like that that outweigh the mild laughs that are scattered throughout the film. The unlikable characters don't help much either. Its a pretty disposable movie with a handful of laughs and a semi original (though very silly and implausible) premise. I just didn't like the movie, its just too hard to believe, even for me.

(au) wrote: Great story, beautifully acted. Some interesting Sci-fi shit.
(fr) wrote: Between 2.5 and 3. The movie is just a 2.5 (as maximum), but I add half an additional star because of the reflections about the suffering of the lower class. It is specially interesting the reflection about we being drunk people fighting against us, instead of getting united to confront our common problems.

They could of gotten a better looking model though, Gisele Bunchen's face is not attractive and her acting isn't good and her lack of sex appeal is especially apparent in the one scene where she screams "die" while shooting a gun. I mean, it's funny but I don't think that's what they were going for.
(us) wrote: Wasn't that bad, actually. Although it has a generic plot, a predictable storyline, and relies too heavily on 'eye candy', it manages to have laughs and Anna Faris and Chris Evans make a good chemistry.
