(fr) wrote: Tom's life begins to spiral out of control when his buddy Dan brings home a suspicious snuff tape that he found online. Will the two be able to break away from their sick obsessions before they are tempted to turn a dark fantasy into reality? So begins GUT, a tightly-drawn psychological thriller that overcomes its minuscule budget with an intriguing pair of characters and constant feelings of dread and paranoia. Director Elias takes his time in introducing Tom and Dan in order to build upon their friendship in a real-world setting. Only then does he begin chip away at their masks of sanity, slowly revealing their twisted desires and inability to relate with those around them. While the snuff film becomes the point of their fixation, the universal themes of obsession and moral corruption could easily be interchanged for any other vices without losing their impact. The shockingly realistic special effects only add an intensified element of horror on top of the growing terror and suspense. Jason Vail and Nicholas Wilder competently carry out their leading roles, which account for much of the film's success. Chad Bernhard's depressing score also works to darken the mood throughout. GUT is a cut above the rest on the Independent film scene.

(au) wrote: It's a strange movie, it takes time to see exactly what is going on. Steve Buscemi is always good and the characters are well done.

(jp) wrote: Again, like its predecessor, "Resident Evil: Extinction" suffers from a weak plot, lack of originality, and characters that don't have any development whatsoever. Again, it's all about style rather than substance. Trying to make Alice look cool while making other characters seem pointless and uninteresting. Nothing in this sequel brings anything new to the table. The only thing it brings is more inconsistencies like Alice having physic powers without any reasonings, Umbrella somehow manage to track Alice via satellite without giving us any hints that she has a chip inside of her (is she a robot or something?), and so on. It has a nice change of setting, but not enough to warrant a pass for this awful, boring, worthless piece of shit of a movie.

(us) wrote: it is full of 90s cheese? did it have plot holes? were the characters one-dimensional? yes! that being said it was very creative and unusual which u have to admit is very rare in the horror genre. i really liked the scene where she is searching for boone and uncovers the underground lair with all the diff horror characters. i liked the mystery and how u never knew where the story was going. it was kind of a fantastical movie like legend or the labyrinth. i liked the mythology, dreams, and prophecies of Midian. if the movie would've just stuck to Midian without all that extra plot complications it would've been better and shorter.
(ag) wrote: Good /funny but sad movie.. seen it very rescently .and still enjoyed it,,,:0)
(ru) wrote: This movie is gripping, full of suspance and well directed.Unfortunately, it feels like it's missing one part of the story, and you can't fully enjoy a good revenge if you don't know what that is for.
