(au) wrote: Entertaining enough to keep ones interest but doesn't bring anything new and certainly isn't a masterpiece either.
(kr) wrote: Liked the stereotypical presentation. Quite black. No one heroic or upstanding. Characters were satisfyingly disappointed flawed people. Kept the interest and the humour struck home suddenly, quietly. Worthwhile.
(mx) wrote: A unhappy waste of time.

(kr) wrote: Very informative. Overall, a good watch.

The fact that it's about a bunch of school boys tricked into a synchro. swimming league by a cute teacher makes it even funnier. The whole time they're debating learning before becoming determined to do so, with a few interesting twists and turns along the way. It kept me laughing, which is all I ask for in a good comedy.

(jp) wrote: With two great lead performances this a thoroughly entertaining thriller that has plenty of tense scenes and some quite shocking violence. It also has a solid supporting cast (especially Richard Farnsworth as Buster), I like the score, some inventive camera work, the script is passable and I like the setting.
(es) wrote: When watching it from the start you get the feeling that it might just turn out to be a great choice of a movie to watch. As the whole screenplay is full of lazy writing and not much to satisfy with there's not even enough action depicted to make it entertaining and breathtaking. Steven Seagal has starred in better hits to compare with this flop like 'Under Siege'. Under Siege is by far and shall remain his best work and is no sort of trash like his Direct-to-DVD work. There's no going far as to calling this movie 'trash', but it could have did a better job on the writing level and action level.

Looks like I'm in the minority again because after shutting this one off I had a huge smile on my face. The pace of the movie was quicker than my sexcapades, the humor rang well with me, it carries that off but charming 80s vibe, and dialogue that was funny but realistic. The cast at hand was also on -the ball. Chris Makepeace does his best Corey Haim impression and comes through. Sandy Baron was pretty cool and made me want to buy his character a beer or 8. Robert Rusler made the movie for me. His presence in every 80s movie I've seen him in brings something special to it. Robert Rusler is a total badass and I thank this movie for finally giving me the recognition this guy deserves. Deedee Pfeiffer is adorable and I feel in love with her at square one. Gedde Watanabe got on my nerves a lot of the time but his acting was alright. The character did hurt the movie for me in parts though. Grace Jones is such an odd girl. Even though she is in the movie for a very short while she leaves the biggest impression (probably why she's on the cover). In some sense I find her extremely hot and in another sense I get uncomfortably nervous when I see her. What is it with this broad? Whatever it is, she worked big time in the role. The film had me up until the last half hour or so. Until that point I found the movie unique and charming. The last half hour falls into a more generic picture with a lot of straight-forward dramatic interactions. Why the sudden change of pace? I was digging on what I was getting! Finally, the ending was not what I was looking for. It blew, big time. It was really an odd choice and sounds like they got a 14-year-old to suddenly end the picture for them. But overall, this was a great vampire flick that a lot of vampire movies today owe a lot to (From Dusk 'Til Dawn, anyone?). On top of this you get an awesome 80's soundtrack, a crazy look of the picture (from director Richard Wenk), colorful lighting, insane angles and a few very gory bits. 80's, fun, cheesy, my kind of flick. The End.

(au) wrote: Charming and funny romantic comedy, the picturesque scenes of Capri and watching Sophia Loran dancing and singing are enough reasons to watch this lovely movie.
(kr) wrote: Bad boy film, Period!!! Not many UK movies depicting the streets of London get the acknowledgement they deserve and this does deserve it. The plot/concept was well-put together, the variations between each characters personal storyline is unique and brought together incredibly.A really good watch, if you can stomach some of the real truths behind UK's culture; the idea is to allow to viewers to see some examples of many the people that are deprived from having a 'normal start' in society, as such the consequences of this are undoubtedly real/genuine.
