Very strange, creepy movie, with a really scary shot in it that's feels about 50 years ahead of its time. Karloff is great in this

1 star out of 4. Co-produced and directed by Richard Gabai making yet another movie that has already been done before, but with a much lower budget. And a portion of the movie dwells on Kaitlyn attempting to convince others about her visions while looking after her mother at the same time who has cancer leading to a twist that doesn't make much sense. But before she died, an ER nurse by the name of Kaitlyn (Natalie Zea) telepathically start to inherit visions from the deceased after a defibrillator was used between them to revive her. ost of the action takes place in the Sergeants Mess with a terrific cast of character actors playing the sergeants and officers, but Attenborough(TM)s performance alone is reason enough to watch this movie. The movie takes place on a British Army post during a coup d(TM) (C)tat in a former African colony. - Richard Attenborough gives an outstanding performance as Regimental Sgt Major Lauderdale and steals every scene he(TM)s in

This is an unflinching look at humanity and worth watching. It still is powerful & resonates today to issues of police brutality, rights of free speech, the justice/injustice of war etc. Watkins makes the audience uncomfortable & deliberately doesn't glorify the military or make any characters particularly relatable which is highly deviant from typical Hollywood/American film making, and thus provoked much controversy at the time of release. It makes the audience uncomfortable having to confront what we would do under similar circumstances. It feels reminiscent of the Stanford prison experiment. Shot on 16mm in documentary format it feels gritty & realistic, additionally the actors improvised dialogue & the film making blurred with the story as actors/characters got so involved in the situation. It starkly expresses the polarizing political climate in America in the 70s, but it's overall themes are still highly pertinent. This pseudo documentary is brutal & psychologically violent

th blatant satire and strong balance of drama and some quirky comedic moments, "Thank You for Smoking" is a delightfully unscrupulous treasure to behold!. Joey asks why he didn't make an argument for vanilla and Naylor says that he doesn't need to argue for himself because his goal is to prove Joey wrong "because if you're wrong, I'm right!" The ending takes place at a congressional hearing and I dare not give away any more. After Joey gives his argument Naylor says that there needs to be freedom of choice when it comes to ice cream flavors. He tells Joey to explain why chocolate is the preferred flavor of ice cream while Naylor defends vanilla. While on a business trip with his son, Naylor cleverly explains to him how he wins arguments. With all of the conflict set in motion the film has some very clever moments that make it stand out as a masterpiece. Naylor also struggles with temptation from a young journalist (Katie Holmes), bribing the original Marlboro Man turned cancer patient (Sam Elliot), and maintaining his image. While fighting against the proposed legislation, Naylor is a divorced man who also wants to be a good father for his son Joey (Cameron Bright) but it can be difficult given what he does. The Senator is pushing for a bill that would require all cigarette packages to have a skull and crossbones label that says POISON. Macy. His biggest rival is Vermont Senator Ortolan Finistirre portrayed by William H. At every turn he does what he can against those who seek to prove the negative consequences of smoking. The movie stars Aaron Eckhart as tobacco lobbyist Nick Naylor who's charm, charisma, and word-twisting makes him tremendously successful at his job. I first saw the film as an assignment for a political leadership course and I was immediately hooked. Jason Reitman's "Thank You For Smoking" is quiet an unapologetic and cut-throat political satire that needs more viewers for those reasons
