NJ V (mx) wrote: I thought this was a cross between a travelogue and a music video. Endless shots of Melbourne from balconies (I never knew we had so many balconies) interspersed with too many music-laden scenes to save the writers from coming up with more trite dialogue. This supposed 'movie' was unbearable. I watched to the end, thinking any minute it would kick up a notch, but to no avail. The secondary characters were way more interesting than the main two, Josh Lawson overacting to a dull Rachel Taylor underplaying everything and looking bored with strange eyebrows. I'd like to see any girl on a romantic date "stroll" in one afternoon from the St Kilda Road art gallery to Fitzroy Gardens to Melbourne University to some other trendy inner suburb wearing high heels!! No plot twists, no chance to feel any empathy for any of the characters, why didn't one of the dozens of people behind this film call it for the indulgent, pointless crap it was? Thank goodness I didn't pay money to see this, but there goes two hours I will never get back.

Zach M (br) wrote: So Hobgoblins 2 wasn't as bad as the first but it was still very bad. They put too much effort into trying to make it look and feel like the first that it actually takes away from the movie. The acting was terrible and they taunt you with the idea that they may show nudity, but that's actually worse because they don't.I don't know why this time the Hobgoblins showed up when you said their names three times and only if you were afraid of things, it made no sense but then again, this movie didn't really need to.It dragged on way too long, even from a movie that only runs for 92 mins.

doug d (it) wrote: The first line of this movie drew me in, "This road you're on... you put yourself on this road... on this exact night. Who chose this? A man makes his destiny, right? Nothing makes the gods laugh harder". This was an interesting drama and was fairly enjoyable. The plot had a few interesting twists and the acting is ok. Overall it was a decent movie, but nothing amazing.

Aaron C (kr) wrote: a somewhat quirky and disgruntled divorcee (think Jack Nicholson) decides to clean up the trainwreck in his apartment, and ultimately, heart, by inviting a young inexperienced cleaner to come in. surprisingly little drama ensues for the rest of the movie, aside from the expected.though this is typical of berri's works which capture mood and setting more than plot development, i found this one rather slow. if you'd like a well-told coming of (masculine old-)age tale, catch Elegy.

Maravillosa.

Dan K (es) wrote: Under today's standards it'd be seen as playing the sympathy card a little too much (at all is a sin, anyways). But it is remarkable to see how the story of illegal immigration hasn't changed at all in the past 25 years, save the fact that it's spread from LA to the entire country. The film also effectively spans multiple genres: thriller, horror, comedy, and tear-jerking drama.
