(mx) wrote: The. WORST. Movie. EVER. This is the movie that makes you appreciate even the crappiest of "real" movies. And for that reason I will recommend it to anyone. The shift in perspective of other movies because of this one is simply amazing!EVERYTHING in this movie is wrong. The lighting, camera work, transitions, timing, effects, dialog (oh, the dialog!), story, EVERYTHING is simply so messed up. Also, Dean Cain brings the only smudge of actual acting, but couldn't do much with such a bad script. While doing film study in school, I never fully understood certain concepts fully or what makes it good or bad. After watching this movie it was all very clear, but because all of it was done so utterly wrong.Example: Splitting the screen in two to show different scenes concurrently can be a very powerful technique, but fails miserably if the "concurrent" events are not even timed correctly between the two scenes.

(ag) wrote: Directoral debut by Fassbinder seems like a piece from the French new wave kind of like an early Melville film. The film is about a pimp, one of his girls, and a gangster as they go on a killing spree. Sounds like a run of the mill gangster film and it is, but it's filled with traces of the genius to come from Fassbinder like the dead silence and a lot of focus on nothing.
