(kr) wrote: The second half is very rewarding towards the patience held in the first one since Makavejev first makes sure to drown us into boring suburban wealth in order to justify the... let's call it "bored housewife Syndrome". From there, a bizarre and intentionally unrealistic journey of sexual liberation and artistic eccentricities lies ahead, all the time us being accompanied by a camera quality and a soundtrack that stink of the good-old 80s way too much (which is certainly a good thing). Yes, I'd debate that Akerman has constructed more profound and challenging essays about the genre but Dusan will always remain Dusan!97/100

The sound was a little poor until the title appeared but then it got better, or I got used to it. Lots of mud, rain and gore with a few characters that grow on you. Well worth a one watch.
(us) wrote: far from being one of melvilles better films, the film suffers from intolerable characters and a dull and pointless story through 3/4 of the film. thankfully melville did a lot with a little, redeeming the otherwise dull story with an interesting and tragic final act. the technical points also save the film with great direction, interesting camera angles, and great lighting choices, especially in the gallery scenes. overall somewhat disappointing but still very worthwhile, especially for melville fans.

(us) wrote: Strangerland was an o.k. movie, but has one of the weakest endings, even if it suppose to be a deep/artsy ending, it didn't build up to it.
