(ca) wrote: Absolutely excellent film with a very realistic story and series of events. It has the grit. The locations are varied and all real. Very smooth rough ride with little time wasted. Very well packed adventure with heroes on all sides and where the outcome is unpredictable. Well done action. Good acting work. Better than any horror film with chills in all segments. We get to see all sides and root for them all. Except they are all killers, so I root for them because it's a film. In real life they should all be given a punch in the face. Allah akbar, praise the lord, que dieu soit avec les gens de bonne volont... et ne tuent pas.
(jp) wrote: pretty good. movie about growing up and trying to find a place to fit-in during teenage years. clich, but it was still good. alot of famous people when they were young in it.

The judge charges her with felony criminal endangerment of the fetus, but will reduce the charges if she has an abortion. Shen then becomes caught in the middle of the issue of abortion, with people from both sides wanting to use her to get their point across. Directed by Alexander Payne(Election, Sideways, About Schmidt), Citizen Ruth is a Comedy/Drama that may be offensive to some, but I thought it was balanced. What I mean is, the movie biased to one side of the argument. It pretty much makes it clear that both sides are crazy in their own way. I didn't really find the main character, Ruth to be likeable. She seemed to self absorbed and only cared about herself but I guess that does make it funny. Ruth is fantasticly played by Laura Dern(Jurrassic Park). I found Kurtwood Smith and M.C. Gainey's characters hilarious. Kelly Preston also does a good job even though her role isnt that big.
(ru) wrote: I really enjoyed this movie. I have read one of Tom Robbin's books, Still Life with Woodpecker, and I really enjoyed it so I gave this a watch. Uma Thurman does a fantastic job. The two morals I walked away with were conformity is alright, but never forget the 'freak' in yourself and to leave yourself open to opinions. If no one listens during a fight, everyone loses.

(au) wrote: Hilarious conclusion to the "Cornetto Trilogy" that, like its predecessors, shows a knack for adapting to its genre while retaining it's fresh humor. As with "Shaun of the Dead" & "Hot Fuzz", the cast is superb, with both Simon Pegg & Nick Frost showing their exceptional acting range in playing unique characters in Gary King & Andy Knightley. Pegg's King is smarmy with the right to mix of charm & tragedy to understand why his friends stay with him even when he does some stupid & bad things. Frost's Andy is equally compelling, this time getting to play to the straight man to Pegg's King and shows off some surprising action skills (his fight scenes make you wish Marvel would cast him as the Thing). The rest of the cast is excellent, with Pierce Bronson having a fun cameo while Rosamond Pike is an compelling female character/love interest who can more than hold her own with the guys. Behind the camera, Edgar Wright once again adapts his film style to the genre, this time aping sci-fi classics like "Invaders of the Body Snatchers", giving the film a nice sense of dread & drama while never losing it's trademark humor. The fight's are brilliant with nice nods to classic wrestling along with a nice mix of drama (Gary King is not a well man). Overall, a perfect conclusion to the "Cornetto" movies, though so good, one wishes Pegg, Frost, & Wright would never stop making them.
