Cade H (kr) wrote: FAQ About Time Travel had a good cast, decent premise but failed to pile up the laughter I was expecting. The time travel aspect was very simple in theory but at times you were wondering what the hell was going on and what year they were in. It all took place around the pub they hung out at, so don't expect any crazy locales or overly fun situations. There were some funny scenes but at times I got a little bored with the banter between the 3 best friends. There is not a whole lot of sci-fi in this one or fantasy, besides one scene with some special effects and a little bit of action. If you like the actors featured you may find some enjoyment, otherwise this one can be skipped.

It's an easy watch but it's pretty ordinary. The only decent actor in the whole production is Lea Thompson and the rest tend to get irritating.Basically the story of 2 sexually frustrated women trying get the right guy, it's a useless film really that's just cheap entertainment it's no Mona Lisa Smile. Nothing horrible but nothing great either....
Ryan H (us) wrote: Nothing about My Bodyguard rang true for me. It all just seems like a setup for a film instead of an honest and sweet story about a kid in high school who has it rough. Why doesn't Clifford go to the principal and explain what's happening? Also, if Moody hits him just once he can prove what he's been doing, so what's he in danger of? Because they were using obvious movie tactics to move the story forward. Look at the scene in the principal's office. This is a clear definition of you can't have your cake and eat it too. The principal gives Moody a week's worth of detention, but then tells Clifford he thinks he came in and cried wolf because Moody looked at him strange. So which one is it? Is he punishing Moody or claiming Clifford needs to relax? Ruth Gordon's character should be funny, but for some reason I was never laughing. I think the problem is that she doesn't have context. Why is this woman so strange? Some people are bothered by her eccentricities but anyone would be aggravated for being hit on by a random old woman in front of his wife. The whole subplot of his father managing a hotel was so boring and pointless. It ends by telling us his grandmother knew the guy coming in that he was supposed to be worried about and she was going to fix everything. Then there's the annoying scene on the roof where he spies on a woman taking her top off and his father watches with him. Are they wanting this to be a heartwarming family film like the storyline and music suggest, or are they trying to be more new-age? That's another big problem, I never felt like this film knew what it was trying to be. All the characters are so bland. There's nothing special about them. The biggest emotional journey comes from Linderman who everyone thinks is a rapist and killer, but actually has the guilt of accidentally shooting his brother. And that was such an obvious twist anyway that it didn't do much for me. Then the big ending comes with these guys fighting the bigger guys that bullied them. What's the point of this film? To stick up for yourself and fight your inner demons? I guess so. But the way it's presented is dull. No wonder why John Hughes tried to write a film similar to this idea. It works in Drillbit Taylor, but not much more. At least there it clearly knows what it's trying to do. This is just a mess.

William W (ag) wrote: Starting the Criterion Collection David Lean Directs Noel Coward boxed set, this British propaganda film was a joy to watch. Sir Noel Coward's many contributions were outstanding and it's clear from this beginning that Sir David Lean would be a great director. Lately in trying to understand the brutality of World War II, I have been watching propaganda films from many countries, including Germany, France and the United States, but this is one of the best.
