(au) wrote: Two mini movies here, unfortunately only one of them is worth your time, Hulk vs Thor has some nice animation but is completely forgettable. Wolverine on the other hand is the far superior while lacking any plot other then to set the scene it contains lots of fan service and nods to the comics. With the appearance of Deadpool being a highlight as well as a brief cameo of X-23. Ultimately it's one for the fans and passable by everyone else.
(es) wrote: Quite a grim "comedy" which lacked pace and instead looked more like a documentary. The long takes between cuts and edits add to the sense of slow.

With such a complex character, he could have acted circles around the may pole, but he didn't. Regardless, Penn could have penned a better movie than this ripoff of Sean Penn's remake of the book penned by Michael Crichton (those who know his books know he'll return from the dead in act 3). I haven't laughed this hard since my last rib tickle. This foray into the wild wild west met expectations and trampled on my hopes and dreams.

(gb) wrote: This is my second Costa Gavras film in less than a week, the frist being Z, and I loved both. Amen shows us how the world, and particularly, the Catholic church refused to act, even when given evidence, against the annihilation of the Jews by the Nazis. Set in a story about a Vatican priest and an SS Officer who are trying to tell the Pope and the American ambassador, plus some other people, that Jews are being gassed by the Nazis in the multiple thousands per day this film exposes the sad truth that the world did not care enough. Look for the same actor playing the main Nazi as in the film Inglorious Basterds. One can see why Costa Gavras and Quentin Tarantino chose him.

(br) wrote: Boring at times, and not in the least bit original, Along Came a Spider feels like and extended episode of CSI. Morgan Freeman does everything he can with the source material, but only so much can be made of Along Came a Spider's mediocre plot and subpar screenplay.
(it) wrote: American beauty is a film about an everyday man lester (Spacey) going for a drastic midlife crisis as his normal life has become too regular and mundane. As the film goes on we see Lester change drastically from an up tight office worker to a laid back care free stoner. This effects all the people around him and it was an amazing piece of cinema to see the changes progress throughout the film. This is by far Kevin Spacey's finest hour and he delivers with an absolute stellar performance. American Beauty is a fantastic film and will forever be a timeless classic.
(us) wrote: Kate Winslet is absolutely brilliant and gives possibly the best performance by a non-Australian as an Australian with perfect accent.

(de) wrote: This is pretty stupid, predictable, and unrealistic. Despite being called a Romcom is wasn't funny and for it's originality, well, from what I gather, it's basically a rip off from another film, which they make no secret of, to be fair.
(jp) wrote: What seems at first like a harmless condemnation of television as an insane, ridiculous circus (and as such it comes off as a silly, dated and mostly unfunny film) soon turns out to be a truly melancholy and touching experience, with Masina and Mastroianni shining together.
(gb) wrote: Grew up watching and loving this movie. It's a bit cheesy now but I still enjoy it.
