Matthew A (jp) wrote: Directors Michael Tucker and Petra Epperlein have crafted an unusual documentary that chronicles life at Gunner Palace in Iraq from the point of view of the US troops. Some of the most powerful moments have to do with segments showing off the rapping skills of some of the troops. They're piercing and full of commentary.

Now I've watched it again in high definition picture/audio, and perhaps because I've since watched many more films that are far worse, 'Snakes on a Plane' doesn't seem all that bad. That might sound like faint praise, but when I saw it again last night, I actually rather enjoyed it. The pacing is certainly good and keeps the momentum flowing and fun, and Samuel L. Jackson is his usual smooth and cool self, and the sleazy co-pilot is mildly amusing. There isn't much depth, but then that isn't the point of this movie, as the title would suggest. It's just good old fashioned corny fun that mostly works. 3.5/5

Michael W (jp) wrote: A surprise birthday party by a caring uncle is marred by presence of several dead guests and a resentful deformed twin sister. I thought Trish Everly was pretty good in the lead, but never worked in film again. An original video nasty, I saw the edited Virgin video version.
