Some excellent performances by Celia Cruz and BB King, James Brown etc. Sort of like a black Woodstock without all the hippies. Refreshing to see black artists from this era. Ali is in top form explaining racism in America. He pretty much nails it.

Gary Oldman never comes outta his CIA room and Kippei Shiina??s assassin or whatever John Rain intensely squints and stares his way through one heckuva dull performance. I was hoping for a little action, but what I got was the doldrums. VF.

I love character pieces, very well written I am not surprised Randy Quaid took this film. Allows him to play a type of player that he would not play in hollywood and play the shit out of it (which he does, Randy is GOOD in this, best australian accent I have ever heard). Makes sense his first movie was playing a player on his last few hours playing a guy doing the same to another. This film takes a concept used, resized, recycled a million times in other movies and brings something original to it. I mean you know he will die but its what he does in the hour and a half that is entertaining. A guy trying run away pissing then slipping on the ice is one of the most funniest scenes I have seen in a long time

Buena.
