For starters, the fabulous cake for the reception falls apart as the butler of the château, and one of the caterers is taking down a flight of stairs falls. The cream puffs are carefully picked up from the floor an arranged as though nothing happened. The bride comes from a bourgeois family, presided by Maddie, an old lady with a secret in her heart. Frog B (gb) wrote: When the "Death Wish" series came to a close it had developed a fan base, went through three directors, and was completed over a duration of twenty years. Out of almost every film series there is always the one movie that can't be helped. Movies like "The Matrix", "Star Trek" , or "Aliens" have always had a film that contains little to no re-watch value. However, to say that there is a film in the "Death Wish" series that is necessarily bad, is untrue. This series is somewhat of an acquired taste. You either get or you don't. If you don't you will probably hate most of these movies. If you do get it, it's impossible to hate any of them. Though the direction of the series had quickly changed, they all were successful to some degree in proving that you just don't screw with Charles Bronson. "Death Wish 5" is a slightly more realistic film, but only in terms of cause and effect. It seems that Paul Kersey is ever so slightly more tolerant, for what its worth. The shooting and killing is less over the top, unlike the two predecessors before it. Though I've never seen someone get blown up by a soccer ball before. For the first time in this saga, Bronson seems to have the lower hand in fire arms. He no longer is equipped with missiles and grenades. I guess it was time for him to retire after all. This would be the last time we would see Bronson in a movie. The irony is nothing short of intense as the final scene is a still image of Bronson with his back to us silhouetted, walking toward a blue light. He later passed away after suffering from pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease in 2003.

Jeff B (es) wrote: Long and slow film, but if you stick with it it??s actually a very great film. Directed by Jan Troell, it stars Max von Sydow and Liv Ullmann as a married couple who live a poor and difficult life in Swedish farming community and the mid 1800s. After having many children and unable to survive on the farm due to poor crops and horrible conditions, they decide to make the trip to America. Of course, they aren??t the only ones who want to leave and go to the new country. The film takes its time to develop the characters and give a sense of the lifestyle and the community. It??s a very well crafted film with excellent performances from the entire cast and a great use of the scenery. I particularly liked Eddie Axberg who played the young worker who is endlessly beaten by his employer (and I was surprised to find out also did sound on the film). I??m looking forward to watching The New Land (even though the only copy I can find is dubbed).
