Hawk (kr) wrote: You have to take these type of movies for what they are, an homage to schlock cinema of the late 80's/early 90s, and to that extent the movie performs very well. There's lots of claymation and stop motion on display, and the whole film has a unusual frame rate that makes the whole thing seem like an early 90's multi media video game. Adding to the joy of this a great ammount of the voicework is dubbed, for no reason other than to do it, and very often the dubbed voices will seemingly not match the character at all. The story is passable, but it's not really a film about the story, so much as it is the pitch perfect parody.

Fabio F (gb) wrote: It was visually amazing, the plot and dialogues were disappointing as they were coming from the same person who gave us Sin City. This movie has the heart of Frank Miller in it, but it was not enough.

Scott B (it) wrote: Production is unable to overcome a pretty bad script. What is particularly unsatisfying to those who would be interested in this story (poker players, like myself) is the fictionalization of the people who surrounded Stu. This is more like a Lifetime Channel movie of the week with swearing. Things are toned down considerably. Ungar was a voracious coke-head, yet we only see him using once and that was an hour and fifteen minutes into the film. The movie is very superficial and glosses over the elements and people that makes the story so compelling.

Sol N (gb) wrote: great movie - fun and laughter with thoughtful things. The most innovative way to educate with the help of Shakespeare, the most striking monologue of 'To Be or Not To Be' ever shown. The film is full of love, patience and fun. Good humour. Great actors. I love it a lot.
