John R (ru) wrote: 140925: A little slow paced. Reminds a bit of Unforgiven (1992). One violent surprising death that caught me off guard. Have never really appreciated Ladd, even in Shane (1953). He just comes across so flat. Brog, Caruso, seemed a bit silly in his totally black outfit and, in my opinion, did not fit the villain well. Not a bad film, just not a good one. Seemed a quick ending.

Patricia P (br) wrote: I LOVED this movie! It's one of my favorites. It gets away with a lot for its time in terms of the racy dialogue. The ending was very fresh and original. So many other movies would have had a tired, predictable, cliche ending. The last scene in the movie is perfect and made me love the movie as a whole that much more.
Charles James I (mx) wrote: oh DAMN!! Pam Grier knocks 'em dead, as per usual. Possibly the baddest chick in the history of cinema. Her and her cutesy whimsical smirks, and a body that was hand-carved by the gods. Just thinking about being engulfed all up in that voluptuous milkshake is enough to make this whiteboy sweat like the fever. Sure, there are elements of perverted fantasy and pornography spliced into my liking of this film, or any other Pam Grier film for that matter, but there are also very noteworthy aspects, that put this film above others in the blaxploitation realm. Including production value, cinematography and action sequences. All of which have the tendency to be lacking from earlier blaxploitation cinema. As opposed to Coffy and Foxy Brown, both of which were Jack Hill films, Friday Foster adopts a strong female role that, I believe, is more enjoyable from a male chauvinistic point of view. Especially since this film has less to do with black on white violence and vice-versa. There are plenty of gratuitous tit-shots, yet the blatant sexuality is minimal enough to maintain a level of class that is still respectable. Friday does not dish out the same righteous kill whitey attitude- but accomplishes plenty as the almost savvy, political idiot savant, cutesy call girl technique. A film to be appreciated by true Pam Grier fans, but not so much hardcore blaxploitation- as it does not really send out a strong enough message outside of the sexual realm.
