(jp) wrote: Saw VI was awesome! It was entertaining and really gruesome! Then the horrible, predictably poor ending happened!!! If it wasn't for the terrible ending, this would have been my second favorite in the series! It's definitely better than IV & V, but unfortunately, the ending just ruined it.

(de) wrote: Okay, the characters are a little generic, but my enjoyment of this film doesn't derive from the characters, but the satire. The satire isn't played too heavy-handed, but they show just enough of it to get a grasp on it, and not shove it down your throat. This film is good, watch it. Now.

(it) wrote: What a surprise! I missed this when it came out, but I just caught it on Hulu. Duvall is masterful in his portrayal of a hardened detective with a self-righteous and hypocritical streak running through his well-worn ego. Charles Durning meets Duvall's standard of excellence as his exceeding hypocrisy overflows the screen. De Niro plays an understated role to perfection as he is forced to face how money can corrupt even the saintly. It is mostly depressing with a little bit of redemption, but don't miss it.

(es) wrote: Pre-Oscar explosion David O. Russell goes full John Waters here, but left the film after shooting the footage and someone else just cut the movie together. An interesting experiment I'll give it that, but the end result is about as uneven as you would expect. There is a lot of good stuff here though ( Jake Gyllenhaal is amusing ), I'd love to see Russell should come back and do an official directors cut someday.
