Some of the acting leaves a bit to be desired but the lead is perfectly capable and after all, this is a low budget film that honors its independent horror predecessors in a big way! Definitely a great watch for the Halloween season!

Its style is similar to 'The Artist', a silent black and white film made in 2011. It also reminded me of Mommy Dearest, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs and Freaks.

Ramiro G (ru) wrote: Though the script lacks a "something" that would've made it memorable, Liberal Arts is a really good, charming study of the nostalgia for our youth with great acting specially from Elizabeth Olsen, who really pulls off a character which is impossible not to fall in love with
Erik D (de) wrote: I knew nothing about Pablo Escobar going into this so I was surprised in the way certain story elements went. Del Toro was fantastic as the mysterious "villain" known as El Patron and Hutcherson was very believable and nailed his performance as Nick. This film was an action thriller, a mystery and a love story and I thought it was just absolutely fantastic.
