Amber A (kr) wrote: Its alright. I love the setting and that it is based on a true story. I also love the part where she begins to realize that the place in which she escaped to write about something entirely different actually became the place in itself far richer to write about.
Spookie M (nl) wrote: Another Altman classic. Elliott Gould and George Segal are compulsive gamblers. Funny and sad at the same time, masterful sound design and a loose narrative that works in the film's favour.
Sotiris K (jp) wrote: The first part is really funny with its satirical look but the second, more serious one feels a bit too long. A good but also overrated film I guess.

Each one of them has a set of distinctive characteristics: A female writer who speaks German, a mother who lost her baby, an industrialist, an US Army nurse, a German American, hotheaded communist, a negro steward, a radio operator and a mysterious German sailor. With limited supply, dangerous environment and distrust of each other at hand, each one of them must attempt to work together to survive.Lifeboat is one of the less known gem of Hitchcock's filmography. the premise was very interesting and the characters were all unique and distinct. Psychology played an important role in the film, the sense of trust could have been easily obtained yet dismissed quickly. The problem with group think is also explored. I found the depiction of what a group can do together shocking. I was quite surprised to see it was Steinbeck who wrote the screenplay, it did have a sense of naturalism but Hitchcocked has reduced the premise to minimalism. The acting was fantastic, Bankhead had a wonderful performance.
Harpreet S (br) wrote: Pretty good film, Jean Gabin's performance as Jacques Lantier stands out. Simon Simon was good also, the film itself is definitely worth the watch, although it's not like amazing. I would rate it 3.5, maybe a little more. A fine film by Jean Renoir!
Chris C (jp) wrote: Funny, charming as well as entertaining, "Crocodile" Dundee delivers a fun narrative and a terrific performance by Paul Hogan in his most memorable role in this classic 1986 comedy.
