Deb K (jp) wrote: Typical cliche, cheap scare horror flick. It can be slow at times. It has trouble making its point or deciding where it wants to take the plot. It tries very hard to lead you in a couple of different directions but then fails badly. Overall wasn't too bad, but not a great film
Emilee D (jp) wrote: The twins' acting may be a little "meh", but I really enjoyed the premise of the movie. It's a very heartfelt and sad story.
Steve W (de) wrote: Off the Black is a simple drama about bonds and connections, image and sympathy. Its endearing and has all those classic tropes you need for a small indie drama film, but the movie is just good enough, from director/writer James Ponsoldt.
Marlene M (us) wrote: I know there are a lot of Beatles fans out there (including me) but why make a film with no sense, terrible out of the blue characters, lazy plot and ridiculous visual effects which lasts just over two hours? The reasons for using the songs such as Dear Prudence, Strawberry Fields Forever and Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite just left me thinking this film should be called: Across the Foolishness, instead. If you're looking for a film which leaves you with a cheesy vision of the 1960-70's (including "war scenes") or just want to hear some Beatle's song covers then this might be your kind of film...otherwise watch a more decent musical like The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Nichole N (de) wrote: I loved this movie.I liked when the children went looking for the con artists and the tied one of them on the back of a tow truck and the other was locked in the trunk of a car. Hilarious. Anyways that little girl was talent and a little too dramatic (lol) but played a wonderful role in the movie.:)Still don't have a clue why the movie is given that name. oh well...

Sylvester K (br) wrote: It's a visually grotesque and yet symbolic film, it's not difficult to see what the director intended for the viewers to understand. The script was beautifully crafted, costumes were superb. Loved the metaphors of the animal masks which described the characters well. The film is truly a masterpiece that covered all of the genres.

Jareth S (jp) wrote: Another enjoyable overlooked holiday romantic comedy that is kept from being forgotten by TCM's occasional showings. Stanwyck and MacMurray have good chemistry, but some of the moral sermonizing is laid on a bit thick. I smell the Hays Code office's meddling influence.

Andrew L (de) wrote: An average horror film with lots of predictable moments. Although it's not entirely bad but there were a lot of cheap scares.
Tommy H (de) wrote: I was really impressed by the visuals in this movie. The image of the french ship moving through the fog was kind of creepy, like a ghost ship. The tactical aspect of the movie was interesting, too. Besides that and some good performances, like the one-armed boy with a lot of spirit, it's your standard blockbuster.
