Praxis peels away the layers of narrative even as Brian, the film's axis, struggles to create his true self. Brian, a writer on the verge of a breakdown, is aided by Joe and an Elusive Woman as he sifts through the fragments of his persona to discover his true core. Fighting against fear and the indifference of society - aptly symbolized by the medical establishment - his quest reflects the classical mythos of Proteus and the human search for meaning in the universe.

John D (jp) wrote: A great action movie that captures much more the feel of the comics than the earlier film. It's possibly hampered by taking so long to hit the cinemas that The Raid had time to copy the basic storyline and beat it out, this combined with a forced 3D only cinema release did it no favours which is a shame because it's very well made with good performances all round.

Bobby L (gb) wrote: It should be noted, that this is much more of a political-drama than an action film. Van Damme doesn't even throw a punch really. It's a good thing that as the years passed, he got to be a better actor, because it pretty much hinges on that, as the plot, while done well enough, is nothing new, and the double crosses and all were easy enough to figure out. The director allows time for the characters to breathe and employs a nice, soft glow that sounds like it shouldn't work for the film, but actually does. It drags it's feet a bit, but was never boring, and it's a nice change of pace for Damme.

Donald W (de) wrote: This is the last Marx Brothers movie. It was the last Marx Brothers movie but was supposed to be just Harpo Marx. The backers of the movie got nervous and managed to get Chico Marx to come out of retirement and Groucho Marx to take a break from his TV show to be in the movie. The three brothers are never in the same scene until the end of the movie. Groucho is edited in as a narrator of the movie. To make sure to make in they managed to get Marilyn Monroe to do a small role with Groucho. It only last about 2 minutes. Most of the movie is Harpo doing his poor hobo humor and jokes. That was relevant in the 1930's but this movie was made just before the 1950's. The economy was expanding and there was little sympathy for hobos in the late 1940's and 1950's. All three brothers are showing their age. Groucho has a real mustache instead of a painted on one.
