Prince of Broadway

Prince of Broadway

Prince of Broadway is the story of Lucky and Levon, two men whose lives converge in the underbelly of New York's wholesale fashion district. Lucky, an illegal immigrant from Ghana, makes ends meet by soliciting shoppers on the street with knock-off brand merchandise. Levon, an Armenian-Lebanese immigrant, operates an illegal storefront with a concealed back room where counterfeit goods are showcased to interested shoppers. Lucky's world is suddenly turned upside down when a child is thrust into his life by a woman who insists the toddler is his son. While Lucky copes with his new domestic dilemma, Levon struggles to save a marriage that is falling apart. The seedy side of the wholesale district is revealed through a journey that continually confronts the interplay between what is fake and what is real.

Lee Daniels (producer, Precious) presents this New York street drama about the lives of immigrants in America seeking ideals of family and love, while creating their own knock-off of the American Dream. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Arif B (nl) wrote: Sadly this isn't that funny. It is meant to be a mockery of london based dramas, has knowing references - but just isn't funny enough. Shame cos I love ad.

Private U (de) wrote: Who would have thought that a dry, seemingly uninteresting story about the finding of the longitude by Yorkshire carpenter John Harrison could have been turned into an exciting adventure by authoress Dava Sobell? Outstanding performances from Michael Gambon and Jeremy Irons with a strong supporting cast. Absolutely gripping.

Paul D (it) wrote: Well told story of sexual repression in the early 20th century as well as being an excellent looking period drama.

Miroslav G (fr) wrote: When talking about what's the worst Bond film in the series, most people will bring up such films like Moonraker, A View To A Kill, and Die Another Day but strangely enough, it doesn't seem like many people bring up Diamonds Are Forever as it is easily one of the worst, if not the worst film in the entire series. Despite Sean Connery's welcome return as Bond, Diamonds Are Forever is a ridiculous and rather lackluster entry into the series as well as a poor final outing for Connery. It opens quite nicely, showing us how Bond tracks down and then "kills" Blofeld but after that, it all starts to go downhill with a plot that borders on self-parody (even more so than an Austin Powers film, believe it or not) and a lazily driven pace. Diamonds Are Forever was really just a desperate attempt in recapturing the magic of Goldfinger and its success by bringing back Connery as Bond, Guy Hamilton as director, and Shirley Bassey to perform the opening title song. And that all seemed like a formula for greatness, but the end result is anything but; I guess it just goes to show you that no matter how hard you try to, you just can't relive the past. The villains are all so cartoonish and absolutely ridiculous, especially Blofeld, and thus is the worst Blofeld portrayal of the three actors that have portrayed him by far. Mr. Kidd and Mr. Wint are some of the strangest and most over-the-top henchmen in the whole series and take me out of the film whenever they're onscreen; why they are given so much screen time for their insignificant roles is beyond me. The return of Connery's swagger and coolness was a much needed boost after Lazenby's poor, wooden portrayal (even if I was growing rather tired of Connery in the first five consecutive films). Unfortunately however, Connery often shows his obvious discontent about playing the character with his rather uninspired and phoned-in performance just like in You Only Live Twice, except even more so. I guess the big, fat paycheck wasn't enough motivation for him to give a decent performance. Ultimately, Diamonds Are Forever is a poor excuse for a Bond film, easily ranking as the worst of the Connery era of Bond films and is the first to really show how tired and decadent this series can be; quite simply, it's an absolute trainwreck.
