Prince of Tears

Prince of Tears

A shameful period in Taiwanese history provides the backdrop for this emotional drama from writer and director Yonfan (aka Yang Fan). In 1949, in the wake of the 228 Incident (in which anti-government protesters launched a rebellion that was violently put down by authorities), Taiwan came under martial law, and through much of the 1950s brutal reprisals against suspected communists were commonplace. During the years of the "White Terror," thousand of supposed dissidents were killed, imprisoned or simply disappeared at the hands of the military police.

Two sisters whose family moves to Taiwan after their father fights in the civil war against the communists in mainland China, find their lives turned upside-down after their parents are thrown into jail and accused of being spies. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Eliabeth M (fr) wrote: Junn: Through plenty of crying, I've learnt to be content that I won't always be happy, secure in my loneliness, hopeful that I will be able to cope. Every year on Christmas Day I get very lonely. An incredible feeling of solitude. On this day, everything has stood still, even the trees have stopped rustling, but I'm still moving, I want to move, but I have nothing to move to, and nowhere to go. The scars beneath my skin suddenly surface and I get scared. Scared of being alone.

Muntasim T (kr) wrote: A truly modern and surprising offering from Bollywood, a workplace comedy around marketing! While it at times loses focus, but it seldom drags, and manifests a big heart all the way through. The spirit of marketing and business in general is conveyed very well, from its inexorable ruthlessness to how it can become more humane. Ranbir is outstanding in the lead role and Shimit Amin is a director I will be watching, who is not sticking to a comfortable genre. Bollywood is getting fresh blood, in both in front and behind the camera, and that bodes well for the viewers, who can expect to be rewarded with unconventional fare more frequently.

Priyu K (it) wrote: maybe the acting is a little rigid and methodical, the music and cinematography laughably melodramatic for audiences today, but natalie wood is charming as hell, and the sentiment remains poignant

Mloy X (es) wrote: This film has a stelallar cast led by the always dashing Gary Cooper and stunning Barbara Stanwyck who can play a street-smart, tough, siren and yet still maintain an aura of innocence and vulnerability. The story is sweet and thoroughly entertaining, and even though it's set in the 40s, it's still holds up. I especially loved the dialogue, the way the people talkd back in the days, was so funny and cool, especially the slang of the era. Also, the banter between Stanwyck's Sugarpuss O'Shea and Prof. Bertram Potts (Cooper) was so entertaining, you can feel the chemistry long before their characters realize it, I can watch two whole hours of that alone!

Keenan S (ag) wrote: This is funny comedy/drama about jealousy and misunderstanding. The cast has great chemistry together which makes the film sizzle. This film is very underrated and deserves far more attention that it has received over the years. Check it out if you like romantic comedies.

Simon D (jp) wrote: Credit due for being orginal and unpredictable but I couldn't help feeling a bit robbed with the outcome.

Priestess H (gb) wrote: This was a horrible film. The story had giant plot holes, there was bad cinematography all over it, and the acting was very poor. I was unimpressed by the ideas that created this film.

Matthew H (us) wrote: The movie's message is heartfelt (no pun intended), and Denzel Washington gives a marginal performance, but there's something missing from John Q: Memorability.
