"Prostitutka" (1927) is a Bolshevist silent rarity, unusual because of its subject matter, that being prostitution in the U.S.S.R. The world's oldest profession requires a treatment both delicate and balanced, not an easy topic for a first time director like Herr Oleg Frelikh. Actually, this little known work was Frelikh's only film as a director (prior to this, he had been an actor) and it's a flawed but interesting effort. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Roshan S (br) wrote: The first half of Allah Ke Banday is gripping but somewhere in the middle (after the interval) the story just loses it and becomes preachy, sentimental, and convoluted. The film portrays the coming of age of two boys in 'Bhulbhulaya' a slum in Mumbai. The boys are ambitious, aggressive, violent, have no scruples and want to rule the world -- unfortunately, with all the buildup of their tough exterior and street smartness, they are portrayed making rookie mistakes and end up in a juvenile jail where the usual shock-value rape and torture takes place. They persevere, overcome and come back stronger, get rid of the corrupt warden (Naseeruddin Shah, brilliant but totally under utilised) and come back to their slums with plans to become kingpins there (Sharman Joshi -- OK acting, Faruk Kabir - a bit over the top hamming). For this, they form a gang which consists mostly of children. From here, the story loses its edginess and becomes confused...there is a schoolmaster who tries to stop the duo all guns a-blazing but suddenly seems to run out of steam (What is Atul Kulkarni doing in this movie? Total waste of the talented actor), there is a love interest, there is Sharman Joshi's sudden guilt trip, and it all ends in a mess...but not in a good believable way. I remember, I had loved the promos of this movie and thought that it would be awesome. It could have been, but it is not. Such wasted potential....The director tried to do a City of Men and just failed...
