(nl) wrote: I'm surprised at the lack of reviews. This was a really good movie, it kept me interested all the way through. The cast was great, the acting was pretty much spot on. No complaints, except for the fact that I wish they'd have gone into more detail about the back stories that motivated the carnage.

(kr) wrote: Based on real facts about the first real escape from Alcatraz prison-island, "Escape From Alcatraz" was a solid Clint Eastwood thriller, that showed just how ingenous was the whole escape plan and to sell the fact that our "heroes" are criminals, the warden (Patrick McGoohan) was of course an asshole supreme, so you can root for the incarcerated felons without feeling bad.

(br) wrote: I don't understand all the drama surrounding this film. There's concerns about intended audience, a play on a porn title for the film, and other misguided concerns. Who cares? I'm a grown man, my son 11 and daughter 21. We all loved this movie. It was fun, well written and executed. Steinfeld is adorable and plays the perfect awkward adolescent / trained assassin. Along with a solid supporting cast, I really don't have any complaints. If you're looking for an award winning film of great impact and import, no. But who cares? Lighten up. It is what it is, and it is a fun, enjoyable family film. 'nuff said.
(kr) wrote: Tense and a bit slow paced to begin with, but an iconic movie where Arnie shows why he dominated the eighties action market.
(fr) wrote: Better than expected B-flick highlighted by Hauser's FX. A treat to watch Jeffries in a leading role - even if it's as another cracked, anti-social inventor.
(ca) wrote: Yes, totally my king of movie, an indie with no apparent script, and a ton of actors, all small parts.
