The film is such a success as it takes all that is great about Godzilla movies, links it to the first, and brings in a number of powerful human elements so there is something worth fighting for. It's great to see a series of movies continue to mature, even after 26 movies. It starts in the pouring rain, and Godzilla attacks, killing a squadron of soldiers charged with protecting against monster attacks. The sole survivor is blamed, and demoted to data entry. Meanwhile, a scientist isasked to take the bones of the original Godzilla, and make a clone/robot. This takes Japan 3.5 years, and it was nice to see some government talk about costs, and how the rest of the world might react to such a powerful weapon. There was also a sweet moment when the scientists daughter wondered why clone a monster and not her deceased mother. Once the robot is ready Godzilla shows up again, like an ass, and Shaku is reinstated to pilot the Mechagodzilla. However, she still has much to prove as her team don't completely trust her. The suits must be much lighter, as this Mechagodzilla is agile and quick. He has a vast array of weapons, which are all used well. The film doesn't outstay its welcome and it constantly offers new visuals. It's an absolute wonder for fans, and also works as a stand alone piece.

Steve Q (jp) wrote: It was different than I expected. I expected it to be a shoot em up movie, right from the start. But since it's a movie about a pilot getting shot down, I understand why now. Seeing him just walk around in the jungle, seemingly without a care in the world, made it something to be desired. But hey, it's Hollywood!Overall, an average movie.

Michaelandashley B (kr) wrote: If the real Elvis would have seen this movie, maybe his life wouldn't have ended the way it did. I think this movie reveals that there are some things more important in life than fame, fortune, and fun - which both Drexel and Ryan get their share of. You get this sense that both Drexel and Ryan struggled with a sense of loss throughout their life (presumably because they were separated at birth). And even though their lives are on completely different paths, their countenance is similar - revealing that something is unresolved in their hearts. Maybe Elvis (a twin-less twin) also shared the same struggles. If any of you are a twin, this movie is for you. I have twin boys and there is a definite spiritual connection between them and I love how this movie portrays that concept. I'm also amazed at the amount of sarcasm directed at this movie - which usually means that there's something good about it that people are scared to face. The idea that God calls people to something is probably what people hate/fear most about this movie. We all want to be in control of our lives - right? But the call of God is to let go of our lives, put our trust in God, and follow Jesus Christ. For those of you who love to throw sarcasm at religion, I challenge you to open up the bible and read it cover to cover.
Conner R (es) wrote: It's nothing special and completely ridiculous, but there's something really interesting about the idea of a man surviving on mars. I think since it was released in the early 60s, things like physics didn't really have to play into sci-fi movies (just give them a pill and they can breath). The acting is pretty terrible, especially since it's not played for camp and is supposed to be taken 100% seriously. Mars hot dogs, alien slaves with tans, glowing rocks, etc. it's worth seeing just for how outlandish it gets.
