Hal M (es) wrote: Very disappointing. The plot has development without sufficient resolution. Show us what happens at critical junctures--don't simply have some character tersely confess. Also there is a considerable failure to establish the character interactions: This woman goes gaga over the politician guy, gets down on her hands and knees? We viewers haven't been sufficiently prepared for that strange scene (unjustifiably shot from the distance).

Michael H (ru) wrote: Enjoyable. Rhys Ifans was great. Gaspard Ulliel was good as the young Hannibal, but looks nothing like Hopkins, which was my main complaint with the film, but still worth watching if you're a fan of the films I reckon.

Andrew T (br) wrote: I can remember first seeing the image of a girl in a yellow raincoat wearing a translucent mask and thinking it was one of the creepiest things I had ever seen. I was very curious to finally watch the film that contained this frightening image. Alice, Sweet Alice starts off very shocking and very dramatic in the first half. The story of a young girl suspected of having murdered her younger sister during first communion was horrifying and at times difficult to watch. Unfortunately the plot deviates from that storyline and the movie loses most of it's emotional resonance and becomes yet another silly slasher film. The first half of the film works well but is unfortunately undone by the uninteresting plot twists.

It just drives forward through a crazy load of messy situations, boasting one of Seth Rogen's best performances, paired with a very convincing James Franco, great and highly quotable lines and very powerful action including several very tight - and hilarious - fist fights. Consistent fun.
