Ingela A (au) wrote: "A lush erotic masterpiece" is the headline. And it IS erotic. But from the first moment though, I had the feeling that Jane Campion just used the "thriller part" as an exuse to do an erotic film. I didn't really like Meg Ryan's acting either, it didn't feel authentic to ME. Mark Ruffalo is good though and Kevin Bacon also, even if the character he played didn't really have a meaning in the film. I didn't read the book it's based on where Meg Ryan's character actually dies by the hand of Rodriguez, so the ending is completely changed and also the whole meaning with the book I suppose !
Nico B (de) wrote: Recobbled Cut: ***The animation is impressive and the story isn't half bad, unfortunately The Thief and the Cobbler's songs and characters are very bland and most of the voice acting is forgettable (with the exception of Vincent Price), lose the bland songs and voice cast, and give the film back to Richard Williams, and the film will most likely hold up better, so watch the Recobbled Cut over the cheap Miramax release!
Dave S (de) wrote: This is possibly the worst movie I have every seen... wait a minute... I just noticed that "Gangs of the Dead" is on now. I don't know if I can handle another one of these. I don't want to spoil the intricately woven plotline so I'll just use a few buzz words. This one is about a group of undead, possibly immortal creatures that form a boy band. The movie is about their search for a new lead singer. it just gets better from there... If you are in the mood for a movie that is almost too imbecilic to laugh at, then this is the one! If you are looking for a really bad horror/sci-fi movie, go and watch House of the Dead or something like that. As sad as it is, it's a much better movie than this one.
Adam R (au) wrote: The music is nice, but nothing is quite memorable. I was visually impressed by the water musical sequence with the swimmers, which is the best thing about the film. Aside from that it's not something I would watch again. (First and only viewing - 6/30/2010)
