Steve C (ca) wrote: Looking to get himself a new pair of slippers, a confused but determined old man enters the zombie-packed city of Rott ('The worst place on earth' - the directors obviously never been to Luton) with only the voices in his head and the occasional survivor for company. As well as having to contend with thousands of zombies (hundreds of which he manages to take out), there are also the problems of the parasitic worms that create the zombies and his escalating confusion, hunger and tired feet. As he shuffles around killing zombies and moaning about everything, the film starts to take on the analogy of zombies as the stupider, brainwashed members of society to a much more overt level than other zombie films using this metaphor (original Dawn Of The Dead etc), which the film really needs as the actual plot is fairly unremarkable, and saves it from getting too aimless. The visual style is really a love it or hate it thing, I thought it looked great, the backgrounds and the various zombies look great, although the actual animation/movement makes South Park look advanced. One weird thing that gives the film a kind of detached/dreamlike vibe is that no-one really raises their voice or panics even with thousands of zombies closing in, its oddly calm given the subject. The director has done everything in this film, even down to creating quite an effective soundtrack ranging from disturbing minimal synth washes, through to bouncy and tense electro and grimy, pounding techno. Definitely one for fans of weird animation, most zombie fans should like it too, the gore really starts to pile up and the zombies look fantastic. Might have worked better as a series, but I will be interested to see if the director does anything else like this, because I dont see anyone coming up with anything similar for a while. Given that its all the work of one guy, its impressive.

DC F (mx) wrote: Pretty bad. I remember sort of liking it when it came out, but I was 12 and didn't know better. It was made to be taken seriously, yet has a child-like plot and a hokey show-down at the end. Buy this crap for a dollar to have around when friends want to make fun of a bad, bad movie.

Even if you don't understand computers you can enjoy this movie. Its interesting and has adventure and Jess Bridges is great. Its a wine, it gets better with time, even if the visuals look dated. I think its more enjoyable/nostalgic than it is good. 6.5/10
