The Narrator (Woody Allen) tells us how the radio influenced his childhood in the days before TV. In the New York City of the late 1930s to the New Year's Eve 1944, this coming-of-age tale mixes the narrator's experiences with contemporary anecdotes and urban legends of the radio stars.

Private U (mx) wrote: Simply Beautiful. First Erica Dunton film I have seen and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Written, produced and directed by local Brit Erica Dunton, the film is a short insight into the lives of two strangers who meet in an airport and instantly, if somewaht resistingly fall for each other. Alexia Gilmore is beautiful and her and Christian camargo (recently seen on Studio 60) are thoroughly convincing in their roles. I really like the way that no names are used in the film for the cast, 'him' and 'her' are used as names for the two leads. This enforces the view made by the film, that this could happen to anyone, at anytime, anywhere - the particulars are unimportant. This feeling of reality been portrayed is enphasised by lighting and "shaky camera" techniques. You feel as if the director is just following around the characters with a little personal camera and filming what happens. In this way it feels more like a documentary than a work of fiction. Finally the music is very good, and is mostly performed by 'Mum', an icleandic band similar in style to that of royksopp or coco-rosie. I was very surprised that I enjoyed it, but now after watching it, il look out for Erica Dunton's other work. 4.0/5.0

Gordon (who had directed a ton of radiocative giant running amock flicks back in the 1950s and 60s). by 1977, its chemical waste that causes the ants to grow to enourmous size. Its a so-bad-its-good type of film with cheesy FX to laugh at and Joan is a real trooper as she struggles with such god-awful dialogue and with such phony ant apendages.

Typically the genre most frequently trying to use this concept is horror although its best application produced one of the best film noir movies ever made, 'Key Largo'. Frank arrives in the family owned hotel Key Largo Florida where he meets George's widow, Nora (Lauren Bacall) and his father, James (Lionel Barrymore), the owner of the hotel. His past the tourist season and there is a severe hurricane predicted to hit the area. The hotel has only six guests remaining; the stylish Toots (Harry Lewis), ill-mannered Curly (Thomas Gomez), stoic (William Haade), subservient Angel (Dan Seymour) and the attractive are clearly alcoholic young woman Gaye Dawn (Claire Trevor). In lesser hands then the co-authors the story would have undoubtedly meandered only to collapse in on itself. This is where the triple threat known as John Huston saves the day. He is an experienced actor of unparalleled ability she is able to tap into as he writes his scripts. As a director he knows best how to connect with the actors enabling them to translate the written word into a mesmerizing performance. When you have an actor of such status as Lionel Barrymore the results are fated to be incredible. Mr. Barrymore was largely confined to a wheelchair in his hand severely crippled by arthritis. Several scenes he is challenging his actual physical agony into his performance utilizing his own personal suffering to enhance the portrayal of his character. This is simply put a movie that help to define film noir is one of the most popular genres of its time.
