Raging Bull

When Jake LaMotta steps into a boxing ring and obliterates his opponent, he's a prizefighter. But when he treats his family and friends the same way, he's a ticking time bomb, ready to go off at any moment. Though LaMotta wants his family's love, something always seems to come between them. Perhaps it's his violent bouts of paranoia and jealousy. This kind of rage helped make him a champ, but in real life, he winds up in the ring alone.

Emotionally self-destructive boxer Jake LaMotta's journey through life, as the violence and temper that leads him to the top in the ring, destroys his life outside it. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Jeff D (ru) wrote: The Promise is an insightful look into one of Springsteen's most important records. The documentary is pretty straight forward in it's depiction of the drama in making a classic album. The Promise is far less important than the album it documents, but it remains a worthy look into the creative process of music.

This is probably the definition of a bad movie. It's so boring! This is like the kind of thing that a teacher at a film school would show his/her students to let them know what NOT to make.Don't let the title fool you, it's NOTHING like a real high school, even an American high school! It's the kind of shit that only Hollywood's limited understanding of reality could spew out! It's GARBAGE! I hope I've gotten my point across, DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE! You will regret it!

James H (ag) wrote: The Jesse Stone series are solid mysteries and work because of the laid back charm of Tom Selleck. Interesting story in Sea Change and is one of the best of the series. Well acted.

Damien F (mx) wrote: Don't believe those who missed the point. (Though, of course there is no point.) This is a superb tragicomedy, in fact faultless. While Van Sant is notoriously hit and miss; along with his central protagonist he scores a direct hit here.

Matthew C (br) wrote: I think the most emotional part was when Hopkins defends his horse from some ruffians tormenting it. I have a soft spot for animals, especially horses in movies, and people picking on anything just gets to me. But if that is your best part, we need to go back to the drawing boards. There's a lot going on with Native American sentiments, Islam condemnation, and freedom of spirit, freedom to know who you really are - and all of that dipped in a race across the desert. I wish more time was spent on the race and less on saving Native Americans, convincing us Islam is bad for women, and Hopkins accepting himself and true heritage. None of that really worked. Not enough for me to buy into, screamed agenda, or felt as an easy way out to get to the next scene. You have a list of obstacles and you check them off. Not a lot of real thought. Too much going on that worked against itself, and characters with weird habits and illogical characteristics. But the race part works. It should have been simpler - an American in an Arabian race and it tests man and horse against everything. Only a few times did this truly shine without anything to cloud it. Still, it might entertain you and may even resonate with you, but for me, it crossed the streams too many times with too many forgettable characters put in place very obviously and a plot that was too predictable for its own good.
