"Random Stop" is a first-person P.O.V. recreation of events from the life of a highway patrolman. The film is based on the true story of Sheriff's Deputy Kyle Dinkheller who - at the end of a shift - pulled over a speeding pickup truck driven by disturbed Vietnam veteran, Andrew Brannan. The results of this routine traffic stop were both tragic and deadly. Footage of the stop is now used in police training throughout the world.

(ru) wrote: Seconds is a thriller that begins slowly but gains interest quickly. The audience is thrown into a situation much like the character of Rock Hudson's character is. What takes place after this includes surreal and unsettling cinematography along with an interesting study of how someone's identity can be more than physical appearances as exemplified by the deep rooted feelings of character Tony Wilson. Hudson is great as the lead man and maintains a level believably that without could have rendered the film unintentionally humorous. The camerawork is the highlight of the film as the it often uses subjective shots that follow eerily behind Wilson or from a 3rd person perspective that seems to be someone a few paces away, watching. This is ultimately effective in creating paranoia which echoes that of Hudson's character. Seconds does deserve a second viewing and beyond. What's most interesting in the film is the study of Hudson's character as he forgoes extensive surgery and procedures in order to escape his old life to live a new, "improved" life. This inevitably proves to be something other than an ideal fantasy made reality. The story remains to be more of a character study on relationships and identity as opposed to being a purely thriller based story.
